Orlando starts with a bang!

Four “wild” nights in the Sunshine State

Thursday, October 12 Plagued by Unrest started off the season in Orlando at Duke’s with a bang! What better way to open up the season then to start with a solid metal band? Coming all the way from Cocoa Beach was Illegal Beats keeping the crowd pumped with some killer reggae rock. M.E.S.S. was high energy hip hop rock with a twist. Final Scene is an incredible rock band with lots of energy followed by 44Down who just kept the energy going! Disco Sex Panda was a great closeout and worth checking out again! Friday, October 13 Friday had some surprises to offer: we opened up with a band called The Talking Yellow Shorts. The show is just as good as the name! Sacred Ground followed with a rocking set. Takeout is a 3-piece rock-metal group. Psycho Pharm, that followed, executed the lead singer on stage by means of an electric chair, he was then able to get up and pull off an incredible set. Discordia was the talk of the weekend! 15 year old kids that could shred like no one’s business. On Hiatus joined us all the way from Daytona Beach and had a great acoustic rock sound. Finishing off our night was a tight band by the name of Traverser, with music that spoke for itself, with or without the lyrics. So, Friday was a great night for local music: all of the bands were really supporting each other and standing by the front of the stage all night! Saturday, October 14 Saturday was another great night for music. Farewell Union kicked off our night. Outer Body Inner Experience an energetic math-rock band that came out in all shades of face paint. A gun for hire’s lead singer surprised us all! They were a 5-piece metal band - this little kid had such a deep voice! I couldn’t believe it! Jah Elect is a reggae band with a killer female vocalist and a great stage presence, complete with a marimba. Another Vain Intention is a rock band with smooth clean vocals. The Black Regiment is a southern metal band with grinding guitars that closed out our night. Sunday, October 15 Sunday night was a bit more relaxed, but only slightly! Starting off our night was the Breaking Point, who had a great sound and a nice presence on stage. Northbound was an interesting set up: 2 guitars and a drummer. They had a well rounded sound and really seemed to have it together. Back to Cuba was an indie electronic rock band that changed things up for us quite a bit! Dexios is a rock band with latin rhythms and were very tight in there performance and had a great time doing it. Forever thru Sonoma was a 4-piece alternative band that just plain out rocked! Civilian Arms took advantage of some black lighting and glowsticks for their stage performance and really had a great overall metal sound to them. I thoroughly enjoyed all the bands that played this weekend and most can be found at www.myspace.com/emergenzaFL. I look forward to the next round of shows in February in Orlando!
