TOP STORIES
Morphist, as the name implies, is an experiment in form.
The band shifts from hip-hop to funk to reggae to improvisation
to metal, often in one song.Their music is informed and/or
influenced by: Faith No More, Bob Marley, Public Enemy,
Noam Chomsky, Slayer, James Brown, Rage Against the Machine,
N.W.A., Jimi Hendrix, Beastie Boys, and Fugazi.
Morphist’s songs are
constructed as vehicles for meaning and the lyrics are a blend
of political and social commentary, first-person persona rants,
and poetry; therefore Morphist’s words are often counter to the
vague and interchangeable lyrics broadcast from corporate radio
stations throughout the country. The lyrics in their rap and
improvisational jams are always surprising and unpredictable—the
way music used to be and the way it should always be.
