On June 1, 2003, the earth spit a loogie and gave rise to Exit Clov, an indie pop rock quintet that fuses three of the unlikeliest forces from the DC music scene.
In a former life, Exit Clov were Emily and Susan, two disenchanted twins belting quasi-altpop tunes of war and boredom on guitar. Brett and John were fashioning trippy badass grooves as part of the progressive rock-driven band The Sneeks. And Aaron was shredding (still is) on guitar like a crazy mo'fo' in the DC quintet Adoption Agency.
The three worlds collided, and out of the madness that ensued came trademark beat-driven Exit Clov tunes of revolution, ennui and societal idiocy -- smart music for kids of the next century.
Glossing sweet indie pop vocals over vitriolic bass, drum and guitar grooves, the combo introduces an exclusive sound that keeps an edge on dark pop, groove and surf rock.
But despite the schizophrenia, you won't find Exit Clov straying far from the smart and the catchy, delivering antidotes for a generation of music fans who seek songs clever enough to outlast the times.
