The project that would become Whiskeysaint started when Scott moved from California to DC and teamed up with Tom who both shared the same musical tastes and goals. They soon began to write songs and worked at forming a band. After hearing a demo recording that blew them away, G.C. moved up from Atlanta, GA to become the band’s front man and lead vocalist. The next addition to the band was DC-native Mark Lee with his strong songwriting abilities and scorching bass, rounding out the sound of the twin guitar power. The band was complete when Pat, also from DC, joined with his raw energy and power. Halfway through the first song they played together, they knew they had the thunder they wanted. Enter Whiskeysaint.
“We wanted to bring an energy to the DC music scene we felt was seriously lacking”, explains Tom. Scott adds, “Not only that, but we wanted to create heavy music with a groove layered with riffs and melodies that make our songs interesting.” Mark describes “We are creating the kind of music that, as a music fan, I want to hear cranked up.” “The only way to compliment the music is with powerful and solid drums," comments Pat. German says, “We wanted to write about life’s experiences, whether good, bad, or indifferent that people can relate to. Some songs are dark, some are less serious, but they all rock.”
‘Shed’, the group’s first self-financed single is creating a buzz in the DC music scene as well as with several radio stations, with regular local radio play on DC101 and other local stations. “The song is about erasing all the things in life you’ve done wrong, and shedding your skin to begin again.” Says German. Two more songs, ‘Life Without’ and ‘Vegas’ round out Whiskeysaint's first demo.
Whiskeysaint has been extremely busy this year writing and recording new songs. They are maintaining a heavy schedule of performances in the DC, Virginia and Maryland area quickly increasing their fan base. Scott says, “We try to bring the energy of our music to our live shows and include the audience whether they want to participate or not.” Whiskeysaint is fresh off multiple showcase appearances at the Midwestern Entertainment Industry Conference and will be appearing in Virginia, DC, and Baltimore in the upcoming weeks.
