The band was fount in the year 2000. The line-up from the beginning consisted of Tjark Eisfeld (lead-guitar), Jan Timm (rhythm-guitar), Jochen H. Wiemer (bass) and Fabian Schmidt (drums) – the four of them are also involved in the melodic death-metal-combo “Storm Of Sorrows”.
After a long search for someone to fill the gap behind the microphone, Felicitas Pschenitschni joined the guys in 2001. To improve their live-performance, Heartless teamed up with Anna-Lena Bohnekamp in 2002 as a strengthening on keyboards.
It was clear from the beginning that own songs are written. There are enough of those cover-bands out there. The song-writing is mainly taken over by Tjark and Jan. During rehearsals the songs are worked out with all band-members, so arrangements and the orders of the songs are done together.
The lyrics, which often are thoughtful and emotional, but sometimes a bit romantic, originally were only written by Fabian, but in the latest time Felicitas and Jochen get in own lyrics and ideas.
After already having produced two demos (“Lost” 2001 & “Black World Shadows” 2002) by themselves and after presenting their music to the public for the first time in 2001, Heartless decided to enter the Rosenquarz-Tonstudio in Lübeck for the professional recordings of their first EP in November 2002. Its title is “Never Let Go”.
Not only knowing the crew of the studio from further productions with Storm Of Sorrows led the recordings only lasting four days to a very satisfying result. The self-financed CD contains 4 songs and a total playing time of about 16 minutes and a sound that is able to compete with some major productions.
By listening to the EP one could realize, what Heartless stands for:
Impressive guitar-melodies meet up with atmospheric harmonies and a good pinch of Rock n’ Roll and last but not least with Felicitas’ emotional and versatile voice.
