    Interview with Stillroom, Dublin winner

Stillroom won the Dublin final last week. Scottie, Dave, James, Dehna and Grets: they''re five lucky and talented guys that are in love with AC/DC and catchy riffs. And that are going to hit the Taubertal stage next August. The first national winner band – at the 5th of August they’ll be 17, keep posted here – answered to some questions. Let’s take a look to my interesting conversation with Stillroom. How did you get to play together? Tell me about the birth of Stillroom. "Well, we were formed when lead guitarist and songwriter Scottie and drummer Dave began regularly jamming in Dave''s parents garage. When Scottie drafted childhood friends to the fold vocalist James and rhythm guitarist Dehna and later bassist Grets we began writing our "tablature of rock" and Stillroom was formed". How would you describe the music of Stillroom – which is your feature in the rock universe? "We draw influence from classic rock bands such as AC/DC, Guns n Roses, and Bon Jovi among others. We write our songs based around catchy riffs and big choruses and hooks. We feel we bring the full energy driven entertainment package back to the music scene that is currently ruled by bland acts". How and why you decided to take part in Emergenza International Festival? "We were looking for the next step up on the ladder to achieving our musical aspirations and decided the Emergenza festival would provide the perfect challenge". Did you expect to win the national final? And when did you realize it was getting possible? "We always knew we were in with a chance once we performed to our top ability, and gave the crowd our blood sweat and tears. When we left the stage in the final after our performance to the chant of "one more tune" we had a feeling it could be our night". What the Emergenza experience means for you, and do you think Emergenza changed something in your local music scene? "Emergenza gave us an unforgettable feeling of jubilation when we won the National Final. To win a competition that you worked hard for together with your band mates is a great experience! The festival is a great event. It brings together the best bands nationally in tough competition". Just a place, a month and a number: Taubertal Open-Air festival, next August, 30,000 people. How do you feel about the Grand Final? "We are very excited to be playing in front of such a big crowd. We feel the large audience will benefit our performance as ''stadium rock'' would best describe our sound. We are also delighted to be taking part in a festival that boasts great international acts". Are you going to prepare something special for your Rothenburg performance? "We will be playing songs from our usual set, but I''m sure we''ll be giving something extra as it will be the largest audience we''ll play to thus far in our musical careers. We will be sure to give our all in this performance!" Any special comment/thank you about the Festival? "We feel the event does a great service to unknown acts around the world and we would like to thank the judges, the tour manager, and sound technicians that made the competition a success in Dublin". More plans for the future and for your music? "We will continue as always to write more songs and add to our ongoing original repertoire. We hope to use the Taubertal festival as a launch pad to get our music heard to a wider audience internationally and hopefully get the record deal we need".
