Although their musical tastes are all over the place, you'll probably hear influences from bands like Deus, The Foo Fighters and Moss.
Nils and Andra have been working together as a studio-project since 2008. Since they missed performing as a group, they started looking for the right musicians to complete the band. Between the end of 2009 and the beginning of 2010 they met Kevin and Yrjo, and began learning and refining their songs.
The various members of About Today have built up quite a bit of experience. Yrjo, for example, has played most Dutch clubs with his previous band Curfew. Kevin played the main stage in Paradiso with Daymute. Andra has worked and performed a few years with singer/songwriter Elly Kellner, in a formation called Keshri.
They have just wrapped up recording and mixing their first demo, and work on the first album has already started. Here, too, About Today are looking for a balance between mainstream and exciting. The energy of a live show, with a sonic experience that's only attainable in a studio.
Nils (lead vocals and guitar) has a strong singer/songwriter and indie background. He writes catchy pop songs as easily as he writes a steaming rock 'n' roll track.
Andra (drums and backing vocals) started life in a marching band, and has played in a singer/songwriter duo as well as a hardcore metal band. As a multi instrumentalist and sound engineer, he's aware of all aspects of a song and how they work together.
Kevin (bass and backing vocals) is big on rock and metal. A solid and experienced bass-player, he has already played some pretty big stages.
Yrjo (guitar and backing vocals) is a musical jack of all trades, and can play different genres of music ranging from blues to metal. He's also a genuine gearhead, songwriter, guitar and bass teacher, and has more than 10 years of stage and recording experience.
