Melbourne rocks! Rockers “burn” the stage at the Evelyn hotel.

3 hours of music with some of the best individual musicians we've seen in ages.

Last Thursday at the very well equipped Evelyn Hotel, we saw some great local talent.

The sound is good and so is the P.A. Man (bless him) so these bands had the power behind them to prove what they are worth.

Lots of rock, lots of energy and some amazing musicians. Left us wanting more....if you guys give lessons, we're here.

    Vibraviel

Started the evening and perhaps were a bit under-rehearsed but that was the beauty maybe?. This 3 piece rock outfit plays alt prog rock type stuff. The ideas were good. Arrangements, tricky parts good as well but perhaps a few more rehearsals and they should be better (remember there's no such thing as perfection). The singer seemed a bit shy with his voice. Rehearsals will do wonders because they have the goods. Drummer was very good both technically and groove like, but he needed to hit with a bit more conviction.....this is rock son, hit those skins!

    Guillotyne

These guy rocked. Really did. Just rock, no bullshit. Lots of good guitar shredding from the two guitarists. Technique, experience and bloody marvellous playing in general. Super, super guitarists! Great singer reaching high notes and a high falsetto voice. As well as all that the bloody energy!!! who is this guy?? Were lucky to get through to next round as they won new fans over. Now they need to work on promo.

    Kopious

4 piece rockers from Geelong. Singer has a really good stage presence with a glam rock type of vibe. In fact, they all look good on stage. Absolutely one of the best drummers of the night, so solid, he held the band together. He's proof that your band is as good as your drummer. Good guitar riffs and guitar and bass locked into together nicely. Really good set from these guys.

    BlackPink

More experienced musicians, very seasoned and you could tell by the way they owned the satge. Most polished set of the night. Singer had a great voice that reminded me of the screaming jets, This is the stuff we all grew up on and still love (and the reason we do music, really). As well as the good stage presence there was banter between songs. Bass and drums good, locked together. Guitarist was also good. Great show. Uber professional and very, very nice people (sorry had to add that cause they're really cool)

    Sexgrimes

A couple of seasoned true punk dudes with a couple of younger dudes: Good recipe for a band. A really entertaining set, very funny between songs, very punk.....and that is the point. Punk is good. Punk is honest. Excellent front man who had a lot of energy. A lack of a soundcheck hindered their performance early in the set but when you are a punk, you just soldier on!
    Good set.

And so that was Melbourne done for a couple of Months. We hope you readers go out and support more original music from your Melbourne scene.......bands need you! If you don't support your local bands you deserve Miley Cyrus!!!!!!
