We threw the famous 5 questions at Anthony Cullen, Member of Sydney band ISOLATOR. The boys will be playing Wednesday 3rd of february @ the Lair at the Metro.
This is what he had to say to us.
WHAT SORT OF SOUND CAN THE PUBLIC EXPECT FROM YOU AT THE LAIR?
Isolator's sound can be upfront and aggressive one minute calm and ambient the next, we are progressive with influences from bands like Tool, Perfect circle and Karnivool. A lot of technical skills but lots of energy involved to give to the audience.
HOW DID YOU ALL MEET & HOW LONG HAS THE BAND BEING TOGETHER?
We are friends from High School, however none of us actually played together in the same band till now with Isolator.
The whole band has been together since 2015, so not log at all. In the beginning we actually started out jamming on hip hop songs and a drum machine!.....now we a a rock band.
THE NAME: WHY ISOLATOR? WHO CHOSE IT? REALLY GUYS….NO LIES ALLOWED OK? ;)
I think our bass player or singer came up with the name Isolator, they are electrical electronics nerds.
IF YOU CAUGHT YOUR BEST FRIEND’S LITTLE BROTHER LISTENING TO REALLY CHEESY DANCE MUSIC, WOULD YOU:
A) TIE HIM UP AND FORCE HIM TO LISTEN TO YOUR FAVOURITE BAND
B) LET HIM BE
C) TELL HIM TO PICK UP AN INSTRUMENT
C) PICK UP AN INSTRUMENT!!!!!.... Until you have hit a chord and let it ring through a cranked Marshall stack you just won't understand.
FINALLY, IF YOU'D WON EMERGENZA FESTIVAL AND WENT TO GERMANY TO PLAY THE HUGE STAGE AND COULD ONLY TAKE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING WITH YOU WHAT WOULD IT BE?
A) A REALLY GOOD CAMERA
B) EXTRA MONEY
C) GIRLFRIEND/BOYFRIEND
C) Our partners.... they rock!
And so another Sydney band ready to rock the stage at the Metro and hoping to go all the way to Germany. We can't wait to see all these Aussie bands turning their volume to 11!
