The interview with Night Time Falls from Sydney, live @The Lair @ Metro Theatre tonight for Emergenza Festival Australia:
LET'S TALK ABOUT THE ORIGIN OF YOUR BAND: WHEN WAS IT BORN AND HOW?
Night Time Falls originated in 2011. The founding members of Corey, Brandon and Scott, were close friends who played music together in high school. After playing a few school gigs together, the three of us decided to form a band and write original music. To complete the band formation we needed a vocalist, we searched for an extensive period of time until we found our front man Kristian and our 2nd guitarist Ben.
WHAT ARE YOUR MUSICAL INFLUENCES?
-
Our musical influences vary from a range of styles and genres. Mostly we take influence from hard rock, metal and elements of pop.
-
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE? TALK US ABOUT THE PECULIARITIES OF YOUR MUSIC!
-
On a board note you may say we are hard rock/metal but we take influence from a range of styles and incorporate this into our music. Each member of the band has different musical tastes and we use those to come together to try to create our own sound.
IS THERE A SONG THAT IS SPECIAL FOR YOU? IF SO, WHICH ONE AND WHY?
Scott - You’ll Never Walk Alone would be the song that is most special to me. The meaning behind the song mainly revolves around fighting through your struggles. No matter how hard it becomes you can always pull through.
Kristian - The song I feel is most special to me is Brothers In Arms. This song is a message to thank all of my friends who have been there for me, through everything. Without them I probably wouldn't be alive.
Brandon - I'll say You'll Never Walk Alone because it was the first song we ever wrote (Well technically with the full band) and it represents to me the fulfillment of a common goal that we all shared and was achieved by all of us coming together to create it.
Corey - I would say Victim. This is because of the up beat and energetic vibe that the song produces.
Ben - I guess You'll never walk alone, because it was the first song I had heard by the band and was an introduction of sorts.
ON AVERAGE, HOW MUCH TIME DO YOU SPEND PLAYING AND HOW CAN YOU BALANCE THIS WITH YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE?
The band as a whole tries to practice twice a week, with the sessions lasting 3-4 hours. It is tough to balance with everyday life but we are committed to pursuing music so we will always make the time.
HOW DID YOU KNOW ABOUT EMERGENZA FESTIVAL AND WHY YOU DECIDED TO TAKE PART IN IT?
-
One of our friends bands played Emergenza 2 years ago and that’s how we knew about it. We decided to take part because we thought it would be a good opportunity to play a show and gain more experience on stage.
-
DOES THE COMPETITION WITH OTHER BANDS WORRY YOU OR GIVE YOU ENERGY?
The competition provides with us energy. It's great to play on stage with other bands and create a network with other bands. At the end of the day we are all there for the same reason - music.
WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM EMERGENZA AND HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT YOUR FIRST EMERGENZA CONCERT?
We are very excited to play our first Emergenza concert. As far as competition wise we will just take it as it comes.
