    Schoko: their interview

Waiting to see them on stage at the Taubertal Open Air festival

You have participated in the Emergenza Festival Edition 2014/2015. What made you decide to take part in it?
I decided to be part of the Emergenza festival edition 2014/2015 to invite people and friends with influence in the music business to see at least one time, how my project sounds. The Emergenza first round was our second concert in total (7th March first concert in this project, 28. March first round emergenza). Almost accidently we got to the world finals now and are happy like.... imagine something which is reaaaaaaaaaaaaaally happy!!! :))

As you approach the world final, what is your state of mind?

I am way to happy with it, in the beginning it was not the aim to win the whole thing, or at least to do success. We just wanted to have ONE great show. then we got another opportunity, and tried to do a better show (bigger stage), and so on and so on....

What is your best memory from your Emergenza experience?

While we was playing, people gave us an amazing spirit and power and joy. No matter which round -> people was amazing!!!

What's behind your band's name? Any specific meaning?

I am called "Schoko" (german for Chocolate). Everybody is calling me in a appropiate way Schoko! Everybody likes chocolate, chocolate makes the people happy. Some say, that chocolate is better than sex. I'm no chocolate, i'm a human, but i get associated with good things. I'm Schoko ;)

If you had to choose a famous song that represents your band...which one would it be?

For me it's definitely the song "Sweet"

If your band had another name, what would it be?

    Best question

Can you tell us a funny story or anecdote about your experience on stage?

Funniest, was that our "new" bass player, didn't had one single rehearsal, but he played the Finals in Munich, without mistakes and anyways we got it to the world finals :D But i think everybody has it's own anecdotes/funny stories. This project is very young, but the musicians are highly experienced (some amateur/semi-professional/professional friends i met the last 5 years of making music and playing concerts with many bands. My personally "Highlight-musicians").

What can audiences expect from one of your live performances?

Dancing, Joyfullness, Happiness, some positive vibrations, that could change your sight of world. Hopefully they can expect to be very happy in the end, and maybe to find their own way to STAY happy, even in hard times of life (you can manage hard times on harder ways or on easier ways ;) ) First step to be happy -> feel the joy -> that's where the music and instruments try to get to. text is an deep thing, my philosophy of a happy life .... for ... REAL!

Before you go on stage, do you have a ritual or a good luck charm that goes everywhere with you?

I played many many many concerts, i acutally don't have a specific thing or ritual, but everytime right before the show, i'm feeling a thrill of (most possible positivity) anticipation and i just can't wait to go on stage!! Lovin this!

    What is your dream gig?

Dream gig? There are too many dream gigs. One dream gig could be a gig on the biggest stage existing, but only if it's filled with people, so many many people can hear the sound of positivity :)

Do you guys have any hobbies? What do you do when you don’t play?

Spreading love. But this i think is hard to explain so -> I love almost every kind of sports, but acutally since 1 year, i do nothing else then music. I'm playing many instruments, so does it count if i tell you : when i'm not playing guitar/ukulele/kazoo or singin, then i play trumpet/drums/bass or what else in other bands, just because i adore it to hard. does it count? ;)

If you could invite a band or an artist at your party, dead or alive, who would it be?

It's a hard question, too. I'm hearing sounds of the 50-60-70ths (reggae), but i don't know what people they REALLY are/was.
But in my party i would invite guys like Phil Vetter, Jamaram, Passafire, Raggabund, Buck Roger & The Sidetrackers, Control Bacano, Shavez, Paul Kowol, Wally Warning, Amira Warning, FunkyJunky and maaaaaaany more.

What are your short to medium term plans after the international final?

Like i wrote before, i actually didn't thought to get that far, so all plans are planned without that emergenza stuff! Right now we are recording our debut album, since 1 week we got 3 booker. Aim is to have a professional management, booking etc. so that we are able to JUST focus on playing music. The more people, the more energy comes from the audience, the more vibrations will sent out from us, the more spirit will come from audience, the more...

What question did I forget? Can you suggest a question you would want me to ask?

I told the most important things between the lines in the previous questions ;) Additionally read the presentation text, and maybe you got the most important. Maybe when we see personally, i will say you something, i want to tell you.

Why do you think you deserve to win the 2015 Festival edition?

ough.. eerr.. i was happy to play infront of 350 people in the first round without haveing any demo tracks, without having pictures, without everything. now i have to tell you why we deserve to win the finals? ok, maybe there could be one thing.
I see some musicians thinking of money, business, fame AND THEN STARTING to play concerts. I have to say honestly, that i can't understand why such guys doing concerts. For me it's the spirit, the reflexion of (in this case) positivity and the spiritual things that happen while people play/listen to music. It's eeeeeeeven more than just vibrated air. It's more than just "fitting in harmonies", or "hitting the right note". More than just G-D-e-C. It is such a great gift to have it here on earth. Music can EAAAAASILY change our mood, why when it's just "vibrated air". But i think it goes too far. So i keept it short. Answer to question 15 : Music is what i am feeling, living and will live.
