    Pora Wiatru: their interview!

Waiting to see them on stage at the Taubertal Open Air festival

You have participated in the Emergenza Festival Edition 2014/2015. What made you decide to take part in it?
As far as we remember it was a friend of ours who persuaded us to give it a try. Well, it turned out a great piece of advice!

As you approach the world final, what is your state of mind?

As always, we don't have any expectations. We're rather stoic when it comes to any kind of competitive events. We know our limits but sometimes it seems that our listeners don't and we guess it's why we're here. Well, we love it!

What is your best memory from your Emergenza experience?

The moment we got the information we won the Polish final. It was one of the craziest weekends of our lives, we played at 3 different festivals in 2 days and we felt like we failed at all of them. We're glad to see we didn't.

What's behind your band's name? Any specific meaning?

To cut a long story short: it comes from Genesis (or one of the Polish translations of it). "Season of the Wind" would be a literal translation and it sounds as awkward in English as the original does in Polish.

If you had to choose a famous song that represents your band...which one would it be?

"The Piano Has Been Drinking" by Tom Waits.

If your band had another name, what would it be?

Anything but our current name. Find us a new one, please.

Can you tell us a funny story or anecdote about your experience on stage?

We've been through 7 years of playing at the most absurd, odd and diversified places and events you can imagine. Paper doesn't like such stories but have a beer or two with us and we'll tell you some.

What can audiences expect from one of your live performances?

Certainly not the most professional and technically talented band on earth. But they can expect honest music, real people, real emotions, no masks.

Before you go on stage, do you have a ritual or a good luck charm that goes everywhere with you?

    No, not really.

    What is your dream gig?

Inside a huge, yellow, alcohol-filled Volvo truck going all the way from New Orleans to San Francisco.

Do you guys have any hobbies? What do you do when you don’t play?

Some of us read and write, some of us dress up as knights and fight, some of us travel. There's a philosopher among us, there's a translator, a receptionist, a psychologist working as a programer and others.

If you could invite a band or an artist at your party, dead or alive, who would it be?

We'd never agree on one particular artist. Our tastes range from Sigur Rós to Wilco. Alright, maybe we'd agree on inviting Old Crow Medicine Show.

What are your short to medium term plans after the international final?

A few concerts in Poland, one festival, our former bass player's wedding, some new recording sessions (hopefully) and then a few weeks break.

Why do you think you deserve to win the 2015 Festival edition?

Hah, that's a hell of a question! No, not really. But, as there's no justice in this world, there's a chance for us!
