You have participated in the Emergenza Festival Edition 2014/2015. What made you decide to take part in it?
We want to perform as much as we can, this seemed like a great opportunity to play a couple of gigs in front of different crowds in a couple of quality venues.
As you approach the world final, what is your state of mind?
The same as any other gig. We don’t look at any one gig differently, no matter how big or small the venue or crowd is. We get on stage and do our thing. We want our gigs to be events, so people really experience something powerful and entertaining.
What is your best memory from your Emergenza experience?
It was good to play a couple great venues; since our sound it pretty heavy it can sometimes be hard to achieve musical definition. Playing downstairs at the Garage we really managed to get a great sound. Not to mention having an awesome lighting set up, it just makes for a better live experience for the crowd.
What's behind your band's name? Any specific meaning?
We are named after the Jonestown massacre, there is a bit of deeper meaning behind it, we’ll let people make up their own minds about what they think it means. It may seem unlikely but it does have a positive undertone.
If you had to choose a famous song that represents your band...which one would it be?
Livin' on a prayer - Bon Jovi
If your band had another name, what would it be?
Kiss or Sex Mess
Can you tell us a funny story or anecdote about your experience on stage?
One gig Roy spat our Death Koolaid mix all over himself and the stage on the first song, this turned half the stage into a slippery mess. We were pretty much sliding all over the place for the whole set, us being so energetic you can guess how this ended up. Not very well. Other than that, there is always some kinda injury during a performance, The Crowman once cut the end of his finger off and sprayed blood everywhere. Siren always leaves the stage with a massive bruise on her forehead and once Roy went over to The Crossman and spat on the side of his head, he didn't notice and it just was on the side of his mask for the rest of the show, which was even more funny!
What can audiences expect from one of your live performances?
Blood, sex and tears! You will feel like you're getting punched in the face both musically and visually, but also you’ll also be smiling. Hopefully.
Before you go on stage, do you have a ritual or a good luck charm that goes everywhere with you?
We mix up our Death Koolaid backstage, we give this out during the performance. We use some local beverages to make each batch so its always a bit different depending on where we play, although some key ingredients stay the same. Other than that, doing our make-up and then some groin stretches are always a staple in our ritual.
What is your dream gig?
To play in from of thousands on a support tour with a band we love and respect.
Do you guys have any hobbies? What do you do when you don’t play?
We can't disclose that information.
If you could invite a band or an artist at your party, dead or alive, who would it be?
Motley Crue but back in the 80s. And Amen, Casey Chaos's band. Probably get Marylin Manson to work behind the bar.
What are your short to medium term plans after the international final?
We are looking for management so that’s our next step, we also looking at the possibility of getting a support slot on a tour with a bigger band and play to more and more people.
What question did I forget? Can you suggest a question you would want me to ask?
How many punks does it take to change a light bulb?
Why do you think you deserve to win the 2015 Festival edition?
We're not going to say a bunch of crap about how we deserve to win. We are just going to do our thing, if the audience and judges like us the most then we will be victorious.
