    Love Cream: their interview

Waiting to see them on stage at the Taubertal Open Air festival

You have participated in the Emergenza Festival Edition 2014/2015. What made you decide to take part in it?
The chance to play the scale of gigs, even in the heats let alone the finals was enough incentive in itself. Put on top of that a festival slot in Germany and how could we say no? Europe is our dream market and we hope to base ourselves there one day, and Emergenza has been the perfect launch pad for us.

As you approach the world final, what is your state of mind?

Obviously it’s on the top of our minds, we're still as excited as when we heard the announcement. I’m sure, like the other bands, we’re a mix of determined and nervous.  We just want the time to come already!

What is your best memory from your Emergenza experience?

Being given the opportunity to play at Sydney’s legendary Metro Theatre. It was a great stage to grace and the crew were extremely professional, and the crowd supportive, despite not having a clue who we were!

What's behind your band's name? Any specific meaning?

Mick and Nick were in Cooking Class at high school and opened the fridge to see a tub of cream and a muffin. It was down to Love Cream or Love Muffin, and, like a fine glass of organic milk, the Cream rose to the top. Other than that the meaning is totally up to your own interpretation.

If you had to choose a famous song that represents your band...which one would it be?

“Little Less Conversation” – Elvis Presley vs JXL remix. It’s just a great time.

If your band had another name, what would it be?

    Barkdust or Backfire.

Can you tell us a funny story or anecdote about your experience on stage?

One time, we were in rural Australia playing a show for a mini festival, it was a great day and we partied well into the night. On stage, however, Vinnie and Jimmy were debuting a complex stage move. Vinnie dropped Jim and resultantly broke his thumb. He couldn’t play for 8 weeks. That was pretty funny. His first show back was the first show of the Emergenza competition

What can audiences expect from one of your live performances?

Hopefully a great time! We all love a high energy, good time and we love including our crowd in the festivities. If you’re not sweaty and smiling by the end, then we haven’t done our job

Before you go on stage, do you have a ritual or a good luck charm that goes everywhere with you?

Whenever we're about to go on stage at a big gig, we all do hamstring stretches and listen orchestral crescendos to get us pumped up. Besides that, a balanced diet and maintaining hydration is essential, not just onstage but throughout life.

    What is your dream gig?

It’s a bit cliché but a headline gig at Wembley Stadium. And of course we’re looking forward to playing Taubertal in front of thousands of crazy music lovers.

Do you guys have any hobbies? What do you do when you don’t play?

Nick eats, breathes and poops guitar so he's pretty single track in that sense. Mick and Jimmy love to play football while Marc is always at the local skate park risking his joints and limbs for the sake of his own enjoyment. No one knows what Vinnie does. We're pretty concerned.

If you could invite a band or an artist at your party, dead or alive, who would it be?

One Direction, because they’d pay for everything

What are your short to medium term plans after the international final?

That all depends on the outcome. In the short term we’re all going to enjoy ourselves and stay on for a bit and see what the beautiful continent of Europe has to offer. Our next plan is to release our single, which we’re currently producing. After that an Australian East Coast tour and hopefully back to Europe!

Why do you think you deserve to win the 2015 Festival edition?

It’s not a matter of deserve, it’s a matter of earning it. We will try our best to rock the hardest and make sure the crowd goes away remembering how much fun they had. At this stage, we’re happy enough to get flown across the world to play at a huge festival. Anything more is a bonus!
