Deadview
Heat two was upon us and punk riff rockers Deadview were the first band to kick things off! They played a very tight set of rockabilly styled tunes and are obviously influenced by the likes of The Living End. Solid bass and drum playing set the foundations for a beautiful guitar tone to sit above. A little more work on voice projection from the front man could see these guys go to the next level!
The Frequency
Young up and coming band The Frequency were the second act of the night to hit the fowlers stage and they brought a huge following of loyal fans with them! It's no surprise because these guys are very talented for their age and have a unique freshness and energy about them! You can't help but focus on the incredible drumming of Anthony which is top notch! If that's not enough he sings the main vocals in a high falsetto Jeff Buckley type style flawlessly which is super impressive! The set was an epic rock show which captivated the whole venue! They played a few old classic tunes which they nailed but it was their original tunes that were the highlight, with the arrangements belying their age. Some more energy and stage craft from the boys up front would see this band go to the next level, although they did grow in confidence the longer the set went on. Tom on guitar had great riffs and Lewis on bass had great groove, they just need to step up and own it!
Second of Season
Family band Second of Season took to the stage seeming a little shy and timid. They powered through their first couple of tunes before relaxing into it and really shining through as a great band! Front man Matt has a good rock voice and is very well backed on vocals by Alison and Simon. By the end of the set Second of Season had won over the entire venue!
Sealed Our Fate
Sealed Our Fate took to the stage in front of some of their loyal fans. They seemed confident from the outset bursting into their opening tracks! Great use of double kick along with a great scremo vocal got everyone’s attention. Unfortunately though the playing was quite sloppy and the guitar was out of tune. These things can be fixed with more experience and rehearsals.
Tapir Kingdom
One of the tightest sets of the night came from five piece prog rockers Tapir Kingdom. Lead by a front man who has a sensational voice the boys played an epic set of tunes that crossed many styles, sometimes soft ballads and at other times full on epic rock pieces! Everyone in the band played their respective instruments well but most impressive was their ability to let each member in the band breathe and not play over the top of each other which produced a studio like sound!
