Rad Sydney bands deliver high quality of music at the lair!

    Heat 6 - Sydney - The Lair - 17/06/15

    Grill

Kicking off heat 6 at the lair were rock monsters Grill! These guys brought a huge sound with them to the stage which at times was a little bit hard to believe considering they don't have a bass player. There was bulk shredding by both guitarists Dess and Jarrah as well as solid metal drumming from Kalon and a nice heavy vocal from Coen. There were some big instrumental pieces that really captured the crowd’s attention and the boys have a good energy onstage, even getting the crowd to clap along to a few tunes! Horns up for Grill!

    The Vacationists

Six piece band The Vacationists filled the stage with their array of instruments and burst into an up tempo set of catchy indie pop rock tunes. The band was very polished and had a sound that reminded this listener of 'Architecture in Helsinki'. Final song of the set ‘Moonshine’ was the highlight with great vocal parts featuring throughout! A unique and great sound from The Vacationists

    The Swingin Old Fellas

Rock n rollers The Swingin Old Fellas were next up and brought with them a large following of loyal fans! Lead man Andy has a very strong and rich voice which made for a good focal point for the listeners to tunes into. The band was tight at times and then sloppy at others, the big stage can do this though but it is nothing that can’t be fixed up in rehearsals before an even bigger stage arrives! Some very nice guitar licks were provided by Aaron on lead guitar and solid bass and drum playing by Gregor and Mick!

    Jon Alban

Solo singer songwriter Jon Alban cast a lone figure on the lair stage bringing with him his acoustic guitar and raw voice. He played a set of his original tunes to the crowd with a lot of passion and heart.

    The Radics

The Radics had travelled to the big smoke and brought with them some loyal fans to rock the lair. They opened with ‘Little Red Dress’ which was an absolute beauty! They then played a cover which was a funky rendition of ‘Superstition’, but as the set went on it was clear covers weren’t needed as The Radics originals are rad! The fourth track of the set was the highlight! Also Joel behind the drum kit was a huge standout of the band; he has amazing skill behind the kit and is one of the best drummers we have seen this season!

    Just Breathe

Keeping the standard of music to a real high was Just Breathe! They opened up with a ripping track called ‘Breathe’. ‘My Ruby’ brought down the tempo a bit which really showed how much of an amazing voice front lady Nat has! It was a epic and beautiful piece which was the highlight of the set! Some more energy is needed from all members in Just Breathe to take them to the next level. Just Breathe ended their set on an absolute high as they seemed to grow in confidence and each track was better than the one before it! The entire band is very talented on their individual instruments!

    Jagged Stone

Rounding out the night were experienced rockers Jagged Stone. They have a no frills approach to their music and like to get up and rock out! Front man Anthony has a true rock vocal and was helped out with great backing vocals from Gordan on bass! They powered through their set of original tunes and brought an awesome night of music to a close.
