Crowd boogies to the bands in Melbourne Heat 6!

    Heat 6 - Melbourne - 24 Moons - 11/06/15

    Geoff Allen

Geoff Allen was the first act to open up heat 6 at 24 Moons! He was the perfect way to start the night with his beautiful acoustic guitar sound and rich voice easing us all into the night. Also the use of a stomp box added some nice percussive beats to the set of storytelling folk tunes. The songs were well written lyrically and well arranged although they did all sound very similar to each other so he didn't really engage the audience for the entire set. Geoff also came across with an awkward arrogance when speaking between songs which didn't really sit well with the people trying to appreciate his music. A peculiar artist.

    Jess Hieser

Jess is another act that has played her beautiful music for us before in previous seasons and again brought her collection of songs to perform in the first step of the Emergenza Festival! Straight away there was a noticeable improvement in her live scene performing with a much stronger vocal and better guitar playing skills shown by her as well as Damien on lead guitar. Also some great sax playing was a highlight of the set! Unlike previous seasons, this year Jess progressed to the semi's which is pleasing for her! Well done Jess Hieser!

    Revolution

A massive crowd had built at 24 Moons to witness a band from Geelong who had come to play in the big smoke called Revolution! Immediately the band impressed with their great tones, tight playing, beautiful harmonies and honest approach! As the confidence in the band grew their set got better with front man Jack starting to project his voice more which is important for a band with quite a bit going on on-stage. They played a new song for their fans which actually turned out to be the highlight of the set! Jack was growing in confidence and asked the fans for some dancing in the final song which everyone just couldn't resist and the whole venue was swaying to the reggae vibes of the final track! An amazing set from Revolution!

    Tailor Birds

Our final act of the night was Tailor Birds! This band is very hard to pigeonhole (pardon the pun). They played an eclectic set of original tunes that drew from many genres. A real highlight of the band is the amazing violin playing of Sophie and her enormous stage presence. She makes great use of effects and looping to create a very unique sound which captivated the whole audience! A beautiful set from Tailor Birds!
