Melbourne bands eat up 24 Moons stage!

    Heat 5 - Melbourne - 24 Moons - 10/06/15

    Eamon Eats

Young up and coming band Eamon Eats was the first act to hit the stage at our new first step venue 24 Moons! They brought with them some loyal fans that enjoyed the eclectic sound they created. Eamon Eats have creativity in their songs and playing that lies far beyond their age. It is very impressive to witness! The third song of the set ‘Our Pianist’ was a highlight! Front lady Laura has a beautiful voice but must work more on projection to cut above a band that has so much going on in it. The band also has to leave a little room for each other to breath. Eamon Eats has a really cool look going on! A super start to the night!

    Junki

Jam jazz psychedelic and instrumental band Junki impressed on lookers with their extremely polished set of tunes! They didn't come with a large following but they certainly made some new fans on the night with almost the entire room voting for them! Nice work Junki!

    Kenaniah - 1522

Three piece rockers Kenaniah-1522 burst into their opening track which followed an epic intro piece. The band was tight and obviously rehearses regularly. A much stronger and powerful vocal would suit this band perfectly and hopefully comes with age and experience. There was some great use of effects for the riff in the final track which was one of the highlights of the set! Lead man Daniel plays very well and is backed by band members Beanna on bass and Joel on drums who both play their respective instruments well and also provided strong backing vocals!

    Rebecca-Maree

Rebecca-Maree has a very nice and strong voice and writes beautiful songs and lyrics! This was shown perfectly in her fourth song of the set which was the highlight! Unfortunately her guitarists let her down with both guitars being extremely out of tune for the duration of the set.

    The Archaic

The night was about to take a turn toward the heavy and The Arcahic kick started this trend with their huge sound filling the room! They also brought a massive energy to the room which was great as it engaged the crowd and captured everyone's attention! The boys even got out amongst the crowd for the third last song of the set which is always a fan pleaser! Horns up for The Archaic!

    Red Soaking Wet

A band that has played quite a few shows with us now over the last few years is Red Soaking Wet and again they brought their punk rock tunes to us at 24 Moons! These guy are so much fun to watch perform as they love to put on a show, love the music they play and their front man Brody is a barrel of laughs with his humorous banter and song introductions leaving everyone waiting to see what he will say next! In the beginning there is a lot of shock value but always by the end of the set you can't help but love Red Soaking Wet!

    Dangerous Curves

Glam rockers from Geelong Dangerous Curves were the next act to hit the stage. They are a relatively new band on the scene, which did show at some stages of their set, but there is no doubting the boys have some class about them that could take them far! They won over many new fans on the night with their charismatic approach to their music and stage craft and the songs were very polished. Unfortunately a bit too much stage noise in a small room from the boys made it hard for front man Kym to be able to project his voice loud enough to be heard at all times, but this is something that comes with experience and knowledge. They certainly pleased the Red Soaking Wet boys who played before them as they were all up rocking out to the bands final track! With a little more work and understanding anything could happen for this band!

    Jasen

One man electric guitar slinger and lap top wiz Jasen was the final act of the night. Many people stuck around to see what this final act would dish up. What they witnessed was an act that had spent many hours refining his songs to sound like a full band. A nice concept, but unfortunately it didn't really work in a live setting or resonate with the crowd and it rarely does. There was no stage presence and most of the songs sounded the same as each other. One saving grace was some interesting banter between songs.
