The interview with Entropy Disrupted from Adelaide, live @Fowler's Live on Wednesday, July 8th for Emergenza Festival Australia:
LET'S TALK ABOUT THE ORIGIN OF YOUR BAND: WHEN WAS IT BORN AND HOW?
It's difficult to pinpoint when the band was born. It kinda started when Al (guitar) and Arlie (former drummer) got together to jam original stuff after their cover band - Cheezztop - fell apart. A few months later MikeS (bass) joined, then not long after Simon (vocals) joined to complete the foursome. The original set and demo recording was then produced and we started getting some attention on the local scene. Last November Arlie had to leave the band for work reasons and this is when MikeK (drum) jumped in the Entropy band wagon. We have been gigging exclusively on the local Adelaide scene but really hope to hit the recording studio for our first album soon!
WHAT ARE YOUR MUSICAL INFLUENCES?
Our most influential bands are Deftones, Disturbed, System of a down, Tool/Perfect Circle, Limp Bizkit, and the likes.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE? TALK US ABOUT THE PECULIARITIES OF YOUR MUSIC!
Our sound is quite eclectic, we have elements of rock, metal, and hip hop, with the occasional ballad. After live gigs we had people say that our set is disjointed, and others say that the variety is refreshing. We just like to play good tunes whatever the style is.
IS THERE A SONG THAT IS SPECIAL FOR YOU? IF SO, WHICH ONE AND WHY?
A special song for us is probably 'Dawn Rising'. It embodies what Entropy Disrupted is, an eclectic, bold, larger than life rock song. It's just a fun song to play with multiple changes, catchy vocals, soft and heavy sections.
ON AVERAGE, HOW MUCH TIME DO YOU SPEND PLAYING AND HOW CAN YOU BALANCE THIS WITH YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE?
We all have day jobs - gotta pay the bills! Our rehearsal regime is usually once a week and try to gig once or twice a month.
HOW DID YOU KNOW ABOUT EMERGENZA FESTIVAL AND WHY YOU DECIDED TO TAKE PART IN IT?
We heard about Emergenza from various sources. Past events in Adelaide and also contacts from Emergenza staff. We decided to take part of it for the experience and the fun of gigging. We have no expectations but going to Germany would be pretty cool :)
DOES THE COMPETITION WITH OTHER BANDS WORRY YOU OR GIVE YOU ENERGY?
It is definitely energising to be part of a competition, not worrying at all! At the end of the day we love playing gig and entertain people, and this is just another opportunity. Once on stage I'm sure we will forget about the competition and just enjoy the moment.
WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM EMERGENZA AND HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT YOUR FIRST EMERGENZA CONCERT?
We don't really expect anything, but if things turn in our favour then it's good! There are lots of other very good bands, so it's gonna be tough. We really look forward to our first concert and turn Fowlers into a massive mosh :)
