Jon Alban live @The Lair on June 17th for Emergenza Festival Australia!

Their music is “a blend of Blues, Rock and Electronic Music”...they're Jon Alban!

The interview with  Jon Alban from Sydney, live @The Lair @ Metro Theatre on Wednesday, June 17th for Emergenza Festival Australia:

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE ORIGIN OF YOUR BAND: WHEN WAS IT BORN AND HOW?

I worked with two other musicians on an instrumental album, that didn’t work out so I decided to make a solo album. So in 2004 I purchased some equipment and in 2009 I recorded Coalsack on my IBM computer along with Sonar4 software, an E-MU Systems sound module, electric and acoustic guitars. I didn’t get any industry interest. To keep things moving I played open mic’ nights at The Town Hall Hotel, that’s where I got experience performing in front of people.

    WHAT ARE YOUR MUSICAL INFLUENCES?
I love 60’s and 70’s music, Blusey and Rockin’, like Led Zeppelin and Cold Chisel, also Stevie Nicks. My music is also influenced by electronic artists, Jon and Vangelis and others.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE? TALK US ABOUT THE PECULIARITIES OF YOUR MUSIC!
I have a love of earthy blues, Australian and British rock, boogie and electronic music. Basically my music is A Blend of Blues, Rock and Electronic Music.

IS THERE A SONG THAT IS SPECIAL FOR YOU? IF SO, WHICH ONE AND WHY?
Track two, That Time Is Gone, there a sense of triumph in the choruses and at the end of the song. Overcoming a less than desirable situation…

ON AVERAGE, HOW MUCH TIME DO YOU SPEND  PLAYING AND HOW CAN YOU BALANCE THIS WITH YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE?

One to three hours a day, depending on how hectic the day is.

HOW DID YOU KNOW ABOUT EMERGENZA FESTIVAL AND WHY YOU DECIDED TO TAKE PART IN IT?
I received an email through Triple J’s Unearthed initiative.

DOES THE COMPETITION WITH OTHER BANDS WORRY YOU OR GIVE YOU ENERGY?
It doesn’t worry me or give me energy. I know I have to try harder to impress the judges and the audience. I play my best every time, just play my personal best.

WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM EMERGENZA AND HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT YOUR FIRST EMERGENZA CONCERT?Emergenza have already afforded me the opportunity to play at a well known venue, The Lair, and a chance to tour overseas. I’m excited and look forward to meeting the other performers.
