The Archaic live @24 Moons on June 10th for Emergenza Festival Australia!

Their story, their music, their concert...let's meet The Archaic from Melbourne!

The interview with  The Archaic from Melbourne, live @ 24Moons on Wednesday, June 10th for Emergenza Festival Australia:

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE ORIGIN OF YOUR BAND: WHEN WAS IT BORN AND HOW?

The Archaic formed in 2014 from the remains of an older band featuring Leon, Cooper and Nick. Old school friends Jake and Josh were recruited to fill the vacant guitar and drum spots and The Archaic became complete.

    WHAT ARE YOUR MUSICAL INFLUENCES?

We draw influence from many different artists. Children of Bodom, Gojira, Trivium, In Flames and Periphery are just a few of our favourites.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE? TALK US ABOUT THE PECULIARITIES OF YOUR MUSIC!

One second you will be treated to soft, melodic instrumental sections with clean guitars, and moments later you will be assaulted with harmonious guitar riffs, groovy drum and bass lines and howling yet emotive vocals. We incorporate many of our influences, whether it be melodic death metal, progressive metal, metalcore, rock or classical, we aren't scared to experiment with the genres we enjoy.

IS THERE A SONG THAT IS SPECIAL FOR YOU? IF SO, WHICH ONE AND WHY?

The answer is different for each of us. Some of us would say the Cerulean Air is our favourite. Perhaps it's because it is packed full of emotion, or maybe because it is quickly becoming a crowd favourite. Some might say Prometheus, which is one of our most groove orientated songs. That makes it fun to play live and bounce around to. But our songs All for Nothing and Haunter probably best represent what we consider The Archaic to be, what we mainly and proudly deliver to the audience.

ON AVERAGE, HOW MUCH TIME DO YOU SPEND PLAYING AND HOW CAN YOU BALANCE THIS WITH YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE?

So far, being a new band, it hasn't been hard to juggle with our everyday life. We have band practice once a week and practice heavily in our own time as well. We play shows every couple of weeks, and as we all attend university or have full time jobs, this works well for us so far.

HOW DID YOU KNOW ABOUT EMERGENZA FESTIVAL AND WHY YOU DECIDED TO TAKE PART IN IT?

Emergenza was a named that popped for us many times over the years whilst we were in some of our previous bands, but it wasn't until The Archaic that we felt we had something worthy enough of presenting.

DOES THE COMPETITION WITH OTHER BANDS WORRY YOU OR GIVE YOU ENERGY?
Competitions like this give us the chance to play with a diverse line up of musicians of all different genres, not just artists who are of similar genres. This can make for really fun shows and totally pumps us up!

WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM EMERGENZA AND HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT YOUR FIRST EMERGENZA CONCERT?

We are very excited to play in Emergenza and are very pumped for the first round. Fingers crossed we get far, but we are happy just to be performing with other exciting and talented artists.
