Rebecca-Maree live @24 Moons on June 10th for Emergenza Festival Australia!

Interview with Rebecca-Maree before the first round of Emergenza!

    The interview with
Rebecca-Maree from Melbourne, live @ 24Moons on Wednesday, June 10th for Emergenza Festival Australia

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE ORIGIN OF YOUR BAND: WHEN WAS IT BORN AND HOW?

I have been singing for quite a long time now and decided whilst working at a shitty bar that I want to take my music more serious and make something with my life and that’s when I started writing and putting together some songs and sharing it with people. I got a good response from my originals so I was thinking “hey! Maybe I am good at this.”. Only problem was that there was no way I could perform these songs as I do not play any instruments so that’s when I asked my friend Craig to play for me and the rest is history…

    WHAT ARE YOUR MUSICAL INFLUENCES?

A mix between Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran and a hint of Paramore.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE? TALK US ABOUT THE PECULIARITIES
    OF YOUR MUSIC!

I would say my style of music if you were to put me in a genre would be soft pop, going towards a slight pop-rock. I am always getting compared to Katy Perry or Lily Allen as I am all about personality as well as music.

IS THERE A SONG THAT IS SPECIAL FOR YOU? IF SO, WHICH ONE AND WHY?
All my songs are special to me but the one song that I get a little bit emotional playing is my song called “Wish”. I wrote that song in a very vulnerable time to me and when I sing it , it reminds me of that experience I went through.

ON AVERAGE, HOW MUCH TIME DO YOU SPEND PLAYING AND HOW CAN YOU
BALANCE THIS WITH YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE?

I play music every single day. If its in my room, car, shower, rehearsing in my garage I always fit in time to play music.

HOW DID YOU KNOW ABOUT EMERGENZA FESTIVAL AND WHY YOU DECIDED TO
    TAKE PART IN IT?

I received a email and thought “hey why not give it a go”. I then arranged a time to meet up with the arrangers and I thought it would be fun! I am doing this performance on Wednesday not to really “win” but to get my music there and hopefully get new people to listen and like my music.

DOES THE COMPETITION WITH OTHER BANDS WORRY YOU OR GIVE YOU ENERGY?

It definitely gives me energy. We are all there for one thing… To play music.. Well I am. I am not a competitive person. Don’t get me wrong if I win I would be really happy but I am not going to think of it like a WWW fight.

WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM EMERGENZA AND HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT YOUR
    FIRST EMERGENZA CONCERT?

I am really ,really excited but also a little nervous as I do not know what to expect. Performing in front of people who don’t know me is a little scary as I don’t know if they will like me or not but I am sure I will have a lot of fun. Hopefully no one throws tomatoes at me…..
