An interview with Zain Mitchlan that will play in round one of Emergenza Festival Australia:

PLEASE TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR BAND: HOW AND WHEN WAS IT BORN?
Zain Mitchlan was officially created in August 2014. However; Liam Griffin, who performs under the stage name Zain Mictchlan has been singing and performing since he was just 10 years of age. 

 
WHEN DID YOUR INTEREST IN MUSIC BEGIN? AND HOW HAS YOUR MUSIC CHANGED FROM THE MOMENT YOU BEGAN TO PLAY TOGETHER?
When I was much younger, I have always loved music and performing, there's something about getting up on stage that makes me feel content and at home. Originally Zain Mitchlan was created to be a solo artist, but I soon realised that I needed a good band behind me to help give my music that extra something to stand out, I love my band, they are all so great to work with and I wouldn't want to be up there performing with anyone else.  

  
HOW DO YOU CREATE A SONG? (WHO WRITES LYRICS, WHO MUSIC, ETC...?)
The songs are written in Zain’s home studio where both lyrics and melody are created. The rough idea of the song is the brought to band to bring the song to life. The lyrics are based on personal events throughout Zain’s life, which helps to make performance more real. 

  
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR MUSIC TO PEOPLE WHO DOESN'T KNOW YOU?
The music is a fun, energized mix of both fast and slow tempos to take the audience on a journey through the story telling of the lyrics. I love to have fun and portray this through my unique performance style of just being myself. 

WHICH BANDS INSPIRED AND INSPIRE YOU?
One of my biggest inspirations is Pink. I love her! She was the first performer I ever saw, and she definitely raised the bar high for other performers and the way i critique myself when performing, or even writing my songs. 


TALK US ABOUT THE PECULIARITIES OF YOUR MUSIC!
My songs are filled with real life experiences, emotions and everything inbetween. I don't think I could ever sing about something I didn't feel strongly about in my heart. To me a good performer feels, lives and breathes their music. 

  
HOW DID YOU KNOW ABOUT EMERGENZA FESTIVAL AND WHY YOU DECIDED TO TAKE PART IN IT?
I was contacted by one of the team members at Emergenza, via my manager after my performance in Fast Track. They had heard that I won the award for Best Original Song 2014 - 2015, and I believe Francesca from the Emergenza team watched my performances and saw potential in me... which is always amazing feedback!


WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM EMERGENZA AND HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT YOUR FIRST EMERGENZA CONCERT?
I am so excited to be playing at this festival, I can't wait. The band and I have been practicing frequently and honestly we will be happy if we make it to the finals.
