Let's meet J's Envy from Sydney!

Their live concert on Thursday, March 26th @ The Lair “it's gonna be half an hour of pure awesomeness on stage”...they are J's Envy!

    The interview with
J'sEnvy , live @ The Lair @ Metro Theatre on Thursday, March 26th for Emergenza Festival Australia:

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE ORIGIN OF YOUR BAND: WHEN WAS IT BORN AND HOW?
Well our band kinda came together in 2013. We were all brought together through music programs in school. Eventually, we found Angus, an old friend of our singer, Nathan. After filling in for a gig at short notice around June last year, we realized that Angus was the one for us. Since then we've been combining our skills to further improve and develop our skills as artists.

    WHAT ARE YOUR MUSICAL INFLUENCES?
Our music has no set genre – we play what we feel like. As a result, we’re influenced from all sorts of bands, from the Foo Fighters, to Nirvana, to the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE? TALK US ABOUT THE PECULIARITIES OF YOUR MUSIC!
We try to mix it up, and make sure that no two songs are exactly the same. Because of this, our songs are a broad mix of everything from funk to metal.

IS THERE A SONG THAT IS SPECIAL FOR YOU? IF SO, WHICH ONE AND WHY?
Our special song would definitely have to be R U Mine by the Arctic Monkeys, it was the first song we all played as a band, and it’s kinda stuck with us ever since. It has a special place in our set.

ON AVERAGE, HOW MUCH TIME DO YOU SPEND PLAYING AND HOW CAN YOU BALANCE THIS WITH YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE?
We practice together outside of school twice a week, however we also spend a lot of time during school writing and jamming.

HOW DID YOU KNOW ABOUT EMERGENZA FESTIVAL AND WHY YOU DECIDED TO TAKE PART IN IT?
We were contacted by Emergenza about a month ago. We were told they liked our music and wanted us to be apart of the festival. We thought it’d be a great opportunity to get some more experience performing and meet new people. We’re not wrong so far.

DOES THE COMPETITION WITH OTHER BANDS WORRY YOU OR GIVE YOU ENERGY?
We’ve done our research on other bands in the comp, and while we know we’re up against some stiff competition, we’re not worried. Even if things don’t work out, we’re still happy to have been able to get a chance on stage.

WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM EMERGENZA AND HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT YOUR FIRST EMERGENZA CONCERT?
We’re not entirely sure what to expect from Emergenza to be completely honest. All we know is that we’re excited, nervous, and extremely pumped. At the very least it's gonna be half an hour of pure awesomeness on stage!
