Circlework @Emergenza Festival! Live on March 25th @The Lair!

Their expectations about Emergenza? “No expectations, just get in there & rock the house down for our 25 minutes!” Read below to discover more!

The interview with Circlework from Sydney, live @The Lair @ Metro Theatre on Wednesday, March 25th for Emergenza Festival Australia:

PLEASE TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR BAND: HOW AND WHEN WAS IT BORN?
Roscoe: B-Rad & I met when we auditioned for a covers band about 18 months ago. The covers band didn't last long, but we connected with our songwriting. Once we had a few songs happening we got Leon & Andy on board.

WHEN DID YOUR INTEREST IN MUSIC BEGIN? AND HOW HAS YOUR MUSIC CHANGED FROM THE MOMENT YOU BEGAN TO PLAY TOGETHER?
Roscoe: For me personally, music has always been a big part of my life. Apparently I could change an LP on the record player before I was 2 years old. But I didn't start playing guitar until I was 15. Creating music with Circlework is always a constant challenge to find something new & interesting in a genre that has had so many great songs over many decades.
B Rad: mine was when I was first introduced to Kiss , “Dressed to Kill” I saw the cover and was like what the fuck ! unfortunately my parents were not the musical type so I had to wait awhile before I could really get into anything.

HOW DO YOU CREATE A SONG? (WHO WRITES LYRICS, WHO MUSIC, ETC...?)
Roscoe: B-Rad usually comes up with a rough idea & I will work on developing the music, while he expands on the lyrics. Once we have the basis of the song, we all get together & make the "Circle" work :)
B Rad: indeed I generally write a song and send it to Roscoe when I get it back it has been Roscoeified , the drums are more real, his guitar work is on it and amazing and there are usually backing vocals and a mid 8 spliced in too. There are times when I will have to sing the same verse lyrics for every verse just to keep the timing constant, as I tend to write around lyrics, if they phrase out of time then there will be some different timing :D i.e. Snapshot.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR MUSIC TO PEOPLE WHO DOESN'T KNOW YOU?
Roscoe: I'd tell you but then I'd have to kill you!
B Rad: well Andy and Roscoe were checking this out once and came up with Stadium Rock which I have no problem living with :D

WHICH BANDS INSPIRED AND INSPIRE YOU?
Roscoe: For me, the rhythms of The Police, & the guitar work of Steve Vai. But any music can be inspiring in the right circumstance.
B Rad: Kiss, Muse Foo Fighters
Andy: RHCP and Flea blew me away back in the early 90s even though my all time favourites  vary from Steve Harris over to Mark King.

TALK US ABOUT THE PECULIARITIES OF YOUR MUSIC!
Roscoe: Well, we have a rather strange German bass player.....
B Rad: its basically rock a great mix of personal styles, mixing Rock, Hard Rock, Funk and even a bit of Pop

HOW DID YOU KNOW ABOUT EMERGENZA FESTIVAL AND WHY YOU DECIDED TO TAKE PART IN IT?
Roscoe: B-Rad found out about it I think. Once we saw you can get to Germany, that was it! Like I said, strange German bass player.
B Rad: I'm not sure exactly . I got an email from Francesca asking us for an audio sample.

WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM EMERGENZA AND HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT YOUR FIRST EMERGENZA CONCERT?
Roscoe: No expectations, just get in there & rock the house down for our 25 minutes.
    B Rad: Ditto
Andy: We'll kick arse for some awesome 25 minutes. The only reason to get me on a plane back to Germany with a smile on my face, will be the opportunity to play great Rock made Down Under in front of German fans, so I intend to go all the way
