Beneath Tomorrow’s Sun: Hoping To Come Out On Top

This Alt punk band is hoping their relaxed attitudes and killer tunes will get them the golden ticket at the state final this Sunday at The Hi-Fi

These guys have the right idea—giving it their all and having fun while they do it. Well, it’s gotten them this far in the competition, and now they’re getting psyched up to hit the stage at The Hi-Fi in Melbourne for the state final of Emergenza Festival Australia. Don’t miss your chance to see Beneath Tomorrow’s Sun rock out original alt punk tunes, and in the meantime, check out our pre-show interview with the band here:

EXPLAIN TO US WHAT’S DIFFERENT ABOUT YOUR BAND FROM ANY OTHER BAND IN YOUR GENRE?
Even though we are punk rock alternative, we like to see ourselves as extending to be much more genre neutral. This is most evident in our vocals as our vocalist is trained in contemporary vocals and it just seems to work with the songs that we write.

WHAT FIRST GOT YOU INTO SONG WRITING AND PLAYING LIVE?
We'd say that it's just being able to do what you love with your friends and along the way performing live on stage and collaborating with like-minded musicians. Being able to write and perform your own songs along with bringing your skills to the stage in front of an audience is something that inspires us.

WHAT’S SPECIAL ABOUT A BENEATH TOMORROW'S SUN GIG?
The thing is, if we screw up on stage or someone does something wrong we just roll with it and continue. We don't like to treat ourselves like we're on top of the world and rather that we're always a "local band", so we like to screw around a lot. Even if we do it on stage, it just connects us with our fans a lot more than if we just stood there and tried to nail everything 100%. It's not "do it right or go home" with us, it's "get up there, do your best and make sure everyone has fun." The energy we bring because of this just makes us all go nuts on stage!

WHAT’S THE MOST INSANE PART OF EMERGENZA SO FAR?
Giving us the opportunity to play at acclaimed venues around Melbourne and giving us the opportunity to meet a whole bunch of amazingly talented bands.

HOW’S IT FEEL TO BE IN THE STATE FINALS? AND WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO MOST ABOUT PLAYING THE HI-FI?
To be quite honest, we weren't expecting it. With Adam being sick on the night of the semi-final and Tyson's bass guitar breaking we thought we were done. Once we heard that we'd gotten into the finals, we were ecstatic. Going into the state finals, we just want to give it our all see where it takes us.
