Breaking The Ice With TIL The Break

Taking time out to get to know Adelaide art hip hop duo TIL The Break before they rock out on stage at The Gov this Sunday

TIL The Break have definitely stamped out their own territory when it comes to their edgy, art hip hop sound. Before they rock the stage at The Gov, they sit down with us to talk more about their sound, what Emergenza Festival has been like so far, and what they’re psyched up about for the semifinals at The Gov this Sunday, November 23rd.

FOR THOSE WHO DIDN’T GET TO SEE YOU IN THE FIRST ROUND, CAN YOU INTRODUCE US TO YOUR BAND TIL THE BREAK?
TIL The Break is an art-rhyming duo. One guitar and two microphones we bring world sounds to a punk/hip hop format. Energy and music at its rawest. We are OMCHARM.

WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND FOR YOU?
The highlight of the first round was simply as soon as the sound-guy got the sound right. GOV mainstage has a dope system.

OUT OF ALL THE SONGS YOU PLAYED, WHICH ONE GOT THE BIGGEST REACTION OUT OF THE CROWD AND WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS?
It would have been "LIsTen" with co-singer Rady Duff (Rascal). It's a rising riff that gets the crowds going.

CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE FIRST ROUND AND WHAT YOU LEARNED FROM IT?
TIL The Break has been doing live shows forever so it was all very standard stuff. I however hadn't fully understood the competition concept. So it was all here and there. We got through on pure performance energy. Love It.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TO BETWEEN GIGS AND WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING TO PREPARE FOR THE NEXT PHASE OF THE COMPETITION?
We have been preparing for this next heat by cutting all our other shows. In the meantime also we have finished our album. Hardcopies on Friday!

SO HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE EMERGENZA FINALS?
Feels Good. Overseas is where our music is headed and this is a perfect opportunity!!

WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR UPCOMING CONCERT AT THE GOV?
The title and a ticket to Sydney. Chyeeah..TTB.
