Gone Electric is getting super psyched up to hit the stage at The Factory Theatre this Saturday, November 15th to have another shot at wowing the crowd with their soulful indie rock tunes. They’ve been putting every ounce of their energy into perfecting their stage show since the first round to ensure exactly that happens. Emergenza catches up with the band before the show:
FOR THOSE WHO DIDN’T GET TO SEE YOU IN THE FIRST ROUND, CAN YOU INTRODUCE US TO YOUR BAND GONE ELECTRIC?
We are a young high school band from Bondi that play eclectic indie rock. We formed in 2013 and are keen to record an EP. Our catchy guitar melodies are fun and give us a dancy, pop sound.
WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND FOR YOU?
The highlight of round one was probably playing at The Lair itself. We all go see many of our fav bands playing there, so being able to play there was pretty special.
OUT OF ALL THE SONGS YOU PLAYED, WHICH ONE GOT THE BIGGEST REACTION OUT OF THE CROWD AND WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS?
We played all original songs that night, but it was “Secrets” that the crowd enjoyed. It was one of our first songs, and all our friends know it really well, and it just creates a different atmosphere.
CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE FIRST ROUND AND WHAT YOU LEARNED FROM IT?
In the first round we’ve learnt, and since then we have been working on stage presence, trying to include the audience more.
WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TO BETWEEN GIGS AND WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING TO PREPARE FOR THE NEXT PHASE OF THE COMPETITION?
Between gigs we are always trying to come up with new songs and are always trying to better our music. For the next phase of Emergenza we have been practicing and trying to get all our songs tight and finish up some new stuff to show off!
SO HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE EMERGENZA FINALS?
It feels great being in the semi-finals, hopefully we can make it through!
WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR UPCOMING CONCERT AT THE FACTORY THEATRE?
It’s a really good experience playing on a great stage and meeting new bands.
