The Circle Is Unbroken With Dyngrauk

Sydney punk band Dyngrauk are taking a second chance at getting a good circle pit going this time at The Factory Theatre this Saturday

The only thing this Sydney punk band likes more than playing with the volume knobs all the way up is getting a vicious circle pit going. Dyngrauk had just that chance for round one at The Lair, coming out as crowd favourites, and now they’re hoping to follow it up at The Factory Theatre for the semi-finals. Catch them there this Saturday, November 15th, and while you’re waiting, check out the pre-show interview.

FOR THOSE WHO DIDN’T GET TO SEE YOU IN THE FIRST ROUND, CAN YOU INTRODUCE US TO YOUR BAND DYNGRAUK?

From our own eyes, we are the link between the rich and the poor of this world. The last embodiment of what shows us, as humans, our boundaries between one another. We were the first men to print the souls of our bare feet on the surface of Mars, and we will be the last men to sit peacefully at the heights of the Himalayas as the full force of the Andromeda Galaxy meets the Milky Way and the earth cracks around us... realistically, were a four-piece punk band who like to see people running in circles.

WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND FOR YOU?

The highlight of the first round at The Lair would have to be the mosh we started. Even after our set we were in it for the other bands.

OUT OF ALL THE SONGS YOU PLAYED, WHICH ONE GOT THE BIGGEST REACTION OUT OF THE CROWD AND WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS?

“Hector The Bus Inspector” is defiantly a crowd and a personal favorite. The call and response between the audience and ourselves always gets everyone up and energetic.

CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE FIRST ROUND AND WHAT YOU LEARNED FROM IT?

You really can’t expect who is going to come on next. I cant speak for the other heats, but in ours the genres varied from rap to indie to metal... and us...  but it’s hard to be bored with all the different types of music and if we were surprised by the quality of the first round we can’t wait to see round two!!

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TO BETWEEN GIGS AND WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING TO PREPARE FOR THE NEXT PHASE OF THE COMPETITION?

I would like to say drummer Jack and myself (Andy) have been head in books studying for the HSC. But on my behalf, it’s been more like head in schooner.

SO HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE EMERGENZA FINALS?

It’s going to be a tough competition... we were surprised coming out of the first round on top, so hopefully the same goes for round two.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR UPCOMING CONCERT AT THE FACTORY THEATRE?

If we can’t bring back a trophy, I guess we will have to settle for one of the provided amps.
