    Chasing Down The Still Shadows

Catching up with Sydney grunge rockers The Still Shadows before they go on stage at The Factory Theatre this Saturday

The Still Shadows are back and in better shape than ever for their upcoming gig at The Factory Theatre. Now they know exactly what gets the crowd going and won’t stop until they do just that this Saturday, November 15th for the semi-finals. Don’t miss your chance to see these grunge rockers rock out, and in the meantime, check out what the band had to say to us before the gig.

FOR THOSE WHO DIDN’T GET TO SEE YOU IN THE FIRST ROUND, CAN YOU INTRODUCE US TO YOUR BAND THE STILL SHADOWS?
We are three brothers from around Wollongong that play our own grungy rock, and like to jump around on stage where possible.

WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND FOR YOU?
The highlight of the first round was probably when one of the other bands formed their own little mosh pit in the front during a couple of our songs. It was fun to watch people get into it.

OUT OF ALL THE SONGS YOU PLAYED, WHICH ONE GOT THE BIGGEST REACTION OUT OF THE CROWD AND WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS?
A song of ours called “Before Dawn” seems to get a really positive reaction every time. It's probably because there's a nice build in the song, and it takes you to a happy place, and then goes in the complete opposite direction. Jumping around on stage and head banging helps too.

CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE FIRST ROUND AND WHAT YOU LEARNED FROM IT?
We learned that there's not much room for error, and you have to capture the audience's full attention very quickly or it isn't as fun for anybody involved.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TO BETWEEN GIGS AND WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING TO PREPARE FOR THE NEXT PHASE OF THE COMPETITION?
We have played a couple of gigs to prepare for the next phase, but in between those gigs we had two or three weeks off our usual Sunday morning practice, just so we could stay fresh and not get sick of each other.

SO HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE EMERGENZA FINALS?
It's really exciting to be so close to the finals, and we just can't wait to play at The Factory.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR UPCOMING CONCERT AT THE FACTORY THEATRE?
First or second place would be nice. It's really just a great experience for us. We've only played about seven gigs now, so we aren't expecting much, but we're hopeful, and thankful for the opportunity.
