No Sleeping On The Job: The Cat Nappers

Since the last gig Sydney band The Cat Nappers have been honing their skills and stage presence in prep for Thursday night at The Factory Theatre

Still buzzing from the first round where they rocked the crowd at The Metro in the spring, The Cat Nappers are now getting geared up for the semi-finals at The Factory Theatre in Sydney. You won’t want to miss out on their raw, forceful indie tunes this Thursday, November 13th. Before the show, check out what the band had to say to their old friends at Emergenza Festival:

FOR THOSE WHO DIDN’T GET TO SEE YOU IN THE FIRST ROUND, CAN YOU INTRODUCE US TO YOUR BAND THE CAT NAPPERS?
Camila Singhai on guitar and lead vox, Matt Fioravanti on bass and backing vox, and Phil Martland on drums and Beard.

WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND FOR YOU?
Getting to play a really great venue in front of our friends, family and others.

OUT OF ALL THE SONGS YOU PLAYED, WHICH ONE GOT THE BIGGEST REACTION OUT OF THE CROWD AND WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS?
When we played “Dirty Knife” (a song we had once given up on) we didn't think it'd be a crowd favourite. During the song we could see people dancing and jumping around having a great time. It was especially cool to see two girls salsa dancing in the middle of the crowd.

CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE FIRST ROUND AND WHAT YOU LEARNED FROM IT?
It was an amazing experience, and we feel as though our music was well received but maybe try and get the crowd even more receptive and play to them as much as possible.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TO BETWEEN GIGS AND WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING TO PREPARE FOR THE NEXT PHASE OF THE COMPETITION?
It's been quiet on the Cat Nappers front, we have just been having some quiet rehearsals and each have been working on solo projects to get as much out of The Cat Nappers as possible.

SO HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE EMERGENZA FINALS?
Great! We are all super pumped to have gotten this far and we are just looking forward to the future and our up coming shows with Emergenza and otherwise!

WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR UPCOMING CONCERT AT THE FACTORY THEATRE?
Just the feeling of fulfilment from the last show at The Metro, and hoping that we can leave knowing we entertained and engaged with the audience.
