Sydney band Reflexions are just coming off their high from the first round where they rocked out The Metro Theatre with their original tunes. This time it’s The Factory Theatre for the semifinals. But before the band goes on, they sit down to catch up with their old friends at Emergenza Festival.

FOR THOSE WHO DIDN’T GET TO SEE YOU IN THE FIRST ROUND, CAN YOU INTRODUCE US TO YOUR BAND REFLEXIONS?
Yep. Andy whacks the pigskin, Josh strums his thing and myself (Russy) sing the tunes.

WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND FOR YOU?
Probably just the venue. You know it's a very well established joint, and one of the leading venues in Sydney. Getting a big crowd was good fun as well.

OUT OF ALL THE SONGS YOU PLAYED, WHICH ONE GOT THE BIGGEST REACTION OUT OF THE CROWD AND WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS?
Probably the last tune of the night, we'd never played it before, but the crowd was buzzin’ for it, so we think that'll be a mega tune down the track.

CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE FIRST ROUND AND WHAT YOU LEARNED FROM IT?
It was a good experience, you don't always get to play at a venue like that, with proper sound techs who know what they're doing, cause we certainly don't. And, yeah, just getting up and having it.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TO BETWEEN GIGS AND WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING TO PREPARE FOR THE NEXT PHASE OF THE COMPETITION?
Absolutely nothing. Jammin’ away when we get a moment, writing songs, you know usual band stuff.

SO HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE EMERGENZA FINALS?
It feels like all our wildest dreams are coming true before our eyes.
