Hanging Out Before The Show With Beneath Tomorrow’s Sun

Beneath Tomorrow’s Sun hangs out to talk to us before they hit the stage at The Espy for the semi-final round

Before Melbourne band Beneath Tomorrow’s Sun gets the crowd at The Espy jumping for the semi-finals of Emergenza Festival Australia, the band sits down and catches us up since the last time we saw them. Check out their high-energy punk rock show this Friday, October 10th, and in the meantime read what the band had to say to us.

FOR THOSE WHO DIDN’T GET TO SEE YOU IN THE FIRST ROUND, CAN YOU INTRODUCE US TO YOUR BAND BENEATH TOMORROW'S SUN?
Our front man is Jack on vocals, Adam on the guitar, Tyson on the bass and Aaron on drums. We're just a group of friends that want to make some loud punk rock that gets everyone jumping. We also like to screw around as it keeps us going.

WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND FOR YOU?
The main highlight was playing at The Espy. Just being given the opportunity to play at such a venue was definitely up there. Along with this, the crowd was amazing and it was really cool to see other bands from all sides of Melbourne.

OUT OF ALL THE SONGS YOU PLAYED, WHICH ONE GOT THE BIGGEST REACTION OUT OF THE CROWD AND WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS?
It's hard to pick one out because to us it looked like everyone was having an amazing time throughout the entirety of our set. We heard some positive things about both "Falling Down" and "Exorcist", so that was really rad.

CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE FIRST ROUND AND WHAT YOU LEARNED FROM IT?
Going to back our answer for the first question, it was mainly playing at The Espy that got us pumped for our performance. Alongside that, we also learnt that crowd involvement is just as important to us as the actual performance itself.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TO BETWEEN GIGS AND WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING TO PREPARE FOR THE NEXT PHASE OF THE COMPETITION?
We've been working on completing a new song that had been left since June for this Friday along with another brand new song that we started shortly after the first heat in August. With those two songs plus a few of ours we have yet to play, we have a very fun set for this Friday. We've been practicing every week since that heat in preparation so that we can play at 110%. After all, you're only as good as your last gig.

SO HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE EMERGENZA FINALS?
We're extremely keen that we're so close to getting to finals, and one step closer to Germany. Words can't describe what we'll be like if we get to Germany.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR UPCOMING CONCERT AT THE ESPY?
More fans we hope. Being known across all parts of Melbourne is extremely important to us and we hope that our performance this Friday will help us achieve that.
