Melbourne band Heads and Hearts are getting psyched up to take their psychedelic alternative rock groove to The Espy once again—this time in The Gershwin Room for the semi-finals of Emergenza Festival Australia. Before they hit the stage, the band sits down and indulges our Q and A.
FOR THOSE WHO DIDN’T GET TO SEE YOU IN THE FIRST ROUND, CAN YOU INTRODUCE US TO YOUR BAND HEADS AND HEARTS?
We are kinda like spiritual cyborgs piloting human flesh currently in this world to entertain the population.
WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND FOR YOU?
Playing The Espy was pretty awesome! But our big energetic crowd was the best part!
OUT OF ALL THE SONGS YOU PLAYED, WHICH ONE GOT THE BIGGEST REACTION OUT OF THE CROWD AND WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS?
Our intro to the song “Breaking Free” gets a psychedelic, orgasmic vibe from the crowd.
CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE FIRST ROUND AND WHAT YOU LEARNED FROM IT?
We learnt that The Espy is an awesome place to play! loved the staff... please take us back.... we need money.
WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TO BETWEEN GIGS AND WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING TO PREPARE FOR THE NEXT PHASE OF THE COMPETITION?
We travelled deep into the mountains of Olinda to refine our craft with some veteran bards. Our time there transformed each of us into something otherworldly that we are not quite sure the universe is ready for.
SO HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE EMERGENZA FINALS?
We are honored.
WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR UPCOMING CONCERT AT THE ESPY?
More souls.
