The girls of Lipstuck are breaking out the crazy shades of lipstick and rock and roll tunes once again this Thursday, October 9th, this time for the semi-finals of Emergenza Festival Australia. Don’t miss your next chance to see them battle it out with the boys at The Espy. Before they go on, they sit down to talk to us about how the first step went and what’s in store for the semi-finals.
FOR THOSE WHO DIDN’T GET TO SEE YOU IN THE FIRST ROUND, CAN YOU INTRODUCE US TO YOUR BAND LIPSTUCK?
Lipstuck are an all girl, alternative rock band. Music is our passion and through our shows we hope to get everyone up and dancing!
WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND FOR YOU?
The first show was great fun for us because we got to experience playing in front of one of our biggest crowds yet! It was also awesome to play in The Espy Basement as we had never played there as a band before.
OUT OF ALL THE SONGS YOU PLAYED, WHICH ONE GOT THE BIGGEST REACTION OUT OF THE CROWD AND WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS?
Everyone loved our new song “Crazy”, which was the tune we ended our set with. It's really catchy and most people enjoyed hearing something a bit new and different to our other songs.
CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE FIRST ROUND AND WHAT YOU LEARNED FROM IT?
From our first show we really learnt how important it is to have a calm attitude before we take on a gig. We think the most important way to really rock a show is to just be confident and give it our absolute best.
WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TO BETWEEN GIGS AND WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING TO PREPARE FOR THE NEXT PHASE OF THE COMPETITION?
Between gigs for Emergenza we've had the privilege to play another gig in The Espy Gershwin room. Aside from gigs, we've been practicing heaps and we’re even in the process of recording! We soon hope to release two of our original tracks in the next few weeks!
SO HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE EMERGENZA FINALS?
It feels amazing! We're gonna give it our all and hopefully that's enough to get us through to the next round.
WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR UPCOMING CONCERT AT THE ESPY?
We hope to gain more experience and hopefully even some new fans! All in all we're just grateful for all the support we've received from our fans and of course from Emergenza!
