Talking The Semi-Finals With Saint Henry

Saint Henry sits down to share their thoughts on the upcoming semi finals

Melbourne band Saint Henry is back again with their powerful post-grunge sound, this time for the semi-finals of Emergenza Festival Australia. Don’t miss their performance this Thursday, October 9th at The Espy. Before they go on, we sit down to catch up with the band, get the scoop on the first round and their thoughts on the semis.

FOR THOSE WHO DIDN’T GET TO SEE YOU IN THE FIRST ROUND, CAN YOU INTRODUCE US TO YOUR BAND SAINT HENRY?
Saint Henry is a post-grunge duo from Melbourne who take influence from DZ Deathrays, Fu Manchu and The White Stripes

WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND FOR YOU?
Just having such great bands around us with also professional sound crews that helped every band get the best out of their set.

OUT OF ALL THE SONGS YOU PLAYED, WHICH ONE GOT THE BIGGEST REACTION OUT OF THE CROWD AND WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS?
Probably “Dracula Eyes”, only cause people seem to know the chorus a bit better and all of the clichéd lines… haha.

CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE FIRST ROUND AND WHAT YOU LEARNED FROM IT?
What we learnt is to always be prepared and take your time not to rush when it comes to tuning and getting set up from the next song. But also just to have as much fun as possible.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TO BETWEEN GIGS AND WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING TO PREPARE FOR THE NEXT PHASE OF THE COMPETITION?
We’ve had a few gigs around Melbourne that have kept the momentum going. But we’ve also edited our sound a little to incorporate a few new pedals to generate a fuller sound more suitable for a two-piece.

SO HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE EMERGENZA FINALS?
At this stage we are just taking it one leg at a time but we know that if all the pieces come together on the night and we play a great show then regardless of the result we’ll be stoked.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR UPCOMING CONCERT AT THE ESPY?
We are looking forward to seeing some other fantastic bands while also having a drink and a mosh with our mates in a legendary venue.
