Before grunge blues band The Rumours take the stage at The Lair in Sydney this Thursday, October 9th for round one of Emergenza Festival Australia, they sit down to talk to us about their musical influences and what may be in store for Thursday night. WHAT SIGNIFICANCE DOES THE NAME THE RUMOURS HAVE FOR YOU?
We had never played music together, when we started doing it more frequently word got out around our friends and it became a rumour!

WHO PLAYS WHAT IN THE BAND AND WHAT KEEPS YOU INSPIRED TO PLAY MUSIC TOGETHER?
Luke is on the guitar and main vocals, Ben is on the drums, and Ryan is on the bass, both Ben and Ryan have a go at showing their vocal skills every now and then. We are always inspired to play as we have always had a passion for music, and not to mention that we all feel ourselves becoming better at our respective instruments the more we play them

IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE YOUR SOUND IN THREE WORDS, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?
Rock, grunge, blues.

WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR MAJOR MUSICAL INFLUENCES?
We all have the same and different influences, the main ones you would hear would be Nirvana and White Stripes/Jack White

WHAT'S THE CRAZIEST THING YOU'VE DONE TOGETHER AS A BAND?
Our wild trips away, Byron Bay, Melbourne, Batemans Bay, I will not go into too much detail for fear of embarrassment/prosecution.

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO MOST ABOUT YOUR SHOW AT THE LAIR?
Playing at a different venue in front of a different crowd from what we are used to, it would be nice to share our music and hopefully make others outside our circle enjoy it.

WITH OTHER BATTLE OF THE BANDS COMPETITIONS AROUND, WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE EMERGENZA?
We actually attended Emergenza to support a mate of a mate a few years ago, so after being in our own band the past year or so we thought it would be a good idea to do the same as we had a really good night that night.
