Sydney band Bones Atlas makes no bones about where their hearts lie—that is in the psychedelic hard blues-rock of the 70’s. Their jam sessions sound like a drug-laden, fuzzed out super group of Blue Cheer, Jimi Hendrix, Cream and The Doors. Their studio material is much more structured and refined—early progressive psychedelia seeps in and gets its grasp around the melodies and the song structures, but the blues still reigns absolute in the guitar licks. One thing that shines through is the band's total conviction with which they play—they literally pour their souls and brains into every note they play. They’ve got an album due out in sometime in 2014, but while you’re waiting for it to hit, be sure to come check out Bones Atlas this Thursday, October 9th when they go on stage at The Lair for round one of Emergenza Festival Australia.
