Sydney artist Beatek does electronica, but with a strong rock sensibility—drum loops and synths that harken back to new wave artists like New Order and Joy Division. Female vocals take on a spacey, ambient feel, stretching out the melody endlessly and creating a kind of trance that sucks you in—sensual and entrancing. Although Danny Pavlovic, the brains behind Beatek, has been making music for the last 20 years, he’s only now making his stage debut.
