Chasing the Race
Our first punk band for the Adelaide season kicked off Heat Two at The Gov. Up tempo punchy tunes in the vein of 'Blink 182' style bands was what this three piece did best! Co-lead singers up front in Harry on guitar and Sam on bass complimented each other well whilst Aaron on drums provided the beats. They crammed ten songs into their twenty-five minute set which was quite an effort!
The Tim Forth Happening
Our second band for the night was The Tim Forth Happening, a three piece rock pop band who played their hearts out. It is obvious to see these guys enjoy each other's company and love playing music together! Tim is the songwriter and lead man of the group. He writes honest and heartfelt songs full of passion and is very well backed up by the solid drumming skills of Paul and bass playing of Luciano. They also squeezed nine songs into their twenty-five min set which took the listeners on an emotional rollercoaster of feelings.
Luna Rosa
Luna Rosa is a very clean cut looking bunch of lads and this also resembles the music they play with very crisp and clean sounds projecting from the stage. Lead singer and guitarist Dion has a powerful and unique voice which draws listeners in and he sings over a sound that is some kind of cross between pop rock with elements of folk. More energy and stage presence from these guys could see them take the next step!
Sonic Divide
Playing big sounding anthems is what Sonic Divide are all about and they do it well! They powered through a set of original material with ease! Backing vocals by all the lads on stage were super impressive but unfortunately they all lacked any real stage presence. ‘Driven that Line’ was a huge song to end on!
Young Offenders
These guys know how to rock and they definitely didn't leave anything on the stage! Plenty of energy brought this crowd to life! Brad on lead guitar and backing vocals was the life of the party and caught the listener’s eyes with many people enjoying watching his on stage antics. The band saved their best for last with ‘I’m Not Sure’ being a highlight of the set!
The Motive
The Motive brought a loyal following of fans to The Gov and they instantly demanded them to get up to the front. The fans obliged and the band didn't let them down, bursting into a powerful set of original rock tunes! For a band that only formed eighteen months ago they certainly gel well together on stage. Chad on the drums' playing was a real stand out of the band and of the night! The final song started with a cool country style riff from lead guitarist Daniel and was different to the rest of the set but ended up being the highlight and seemed to suit the bands style a lot more!
Blackwater
The surprise packet of the night was three piece rockers Blackwater! Who knew such a big sound was going to come from these guys when they walked on stage? Then out of nowhere, bang! Faces were melted! At times the vocals were a bit sketchy but an amazing sound on bass, drums and guitar especially, along with a great stage presence from the whole band covered up any cracks. Horns up for Blackwater!
Zero Days
The night started with punk and ended the same way! Punk rockers Zero Days made sure the energy stayed high to finish off the night, not only on stage but off it as well. Enigmatic front man Duncan had one of the raddest basses ever seen, covered entirely in buttons, kept the crowd entertained whilst sharing lead vocal duties with the very solid drummer Harley. A high octane set lost this band Zero fans!
