Huge crowd gathers to see hot young bands!

    Heat 9 - Melbourne - The Espy Basement - 12/09/14

    Lipstuck

Young all girl rock bank Lipstuck kicked off Heat Nine in The Espy Basement in style! Lipstuck features a member from one of our finalists from last year but that was all that was familiar as this new band has its own thing going on! The first song of the set started out a bit shaky with some tempo changes. Second song ‘Somewhere in the Middle’ was a highlight and when the band really got confident. ‘Parts and Pieces’ again was a little shaky but nothing that can't be fixed up with a few more rehearsals. Lipstuck need more energy on stage from all members to take them to the next level! Great backing vocals were provided by Paige on bass. A band to get stuck on!

    The Black Harrys

One of the tightest bands we have had this season is The Black Harrys! This three piece Indie-Roots band is supremely talented and polished! The third song of their set was simply awesome! Angus on bass oozes groove whilst Julian on drums provides tasty beats.

    Half Breed Heroes

Half Breed Heroes are a five piece bunch of mates who love being in a band and playing up tempo loud tunes together. Ryan on guitar was great to watch with so much energy and regularly going out amongst the crowd!

    TWSS

The energy went up a notch when TWSS hit the stage, with their love of playing music together as a band shining through from the opening note! Andrew is a great front man with a true rock voice and great stage presence! He shares lead duties from time to time with one of the guitarists which is great for a change up! They have great crowd interaction skills and provided a spine tingling moment by gathering their loyal fans together and handing them the microphone allowing them to sing out a chorus full of passion! Great stuff!

    Static Revenue

Not to be outdone Static Revenue brought energy and power to The Espy Basement. The front man has great presence and many stage tricks using anything he can get his hands on to his advantage including wrapping the microphone lead around his neck multiple times! He even got up on the bar in second last song! The music is loud and proud and full of emotion!

    Animus

Animus is a young band of family members whose origins date back to the humble streets of India! They brought a massive crowd to The Espy Basement and everyone was eager to see this band perform their original material! The band was on stage waiting before front man Ash burst onto the stage with no top on but a huge neck piece and a fully painted face which looked amazing! First track ‘Can You’ was a little shaky but this was just some early nerves. The rest of the set went really well and they boys from Animus showed some great skills, particularly with some great use of harmonies throughout! Their huge fan base loved every minute and chanted for more! The future looks bright for Animus!

    Daniel Constantine

Daniel Constantine rounded out the night with an up tempo DJ set. Daniel has a unique style and character and the music he delivers is very intriguing. A lack of stage presence though lost many listeners.
