    Face To Face With Reflexions

Sitting down one on one with Sydney band Relfexions before they take on the stage at The Lair this Wednesday

We sit down to get to know Sydney band Reflexions a little before they go on stage at The Lair for round one of Emergenza Festival Australia. Be sure to check out their intimate, heartfelt tunes this Wednesday, October 1st, and in the meantime, read what the band had to say to us in their own words.

HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE NAME REFLEXIONS?
Josh, our guitarist, looked in the mirror one day and liked what he saw.

WHAT'S YOUR LIVE SET UP LIKE?
Simple. Three lads go on stage, turn up the volume and give it everything. Now we've got a bass player we should sound even bigger.

IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE YOUR SOUND IN THREE WORDS, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?
    Simple. Anthems. Engaging.

WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR MAJOR MUSICAL INFLUENCES?
We all have different musical influences, which I think helps create a brand sound. I personally (Rus) am a massive fan of Oasis, Jake Bugg, The Verve, The Stone Roses and a lot of contemporary Australian bands like The Jezabels, Boy and Bear and going back a few years to The Whitlams.

WHAT'S THE CRAZIEST THING YOU'VE DONE TOGETHER AS A BAND?
Played a gig out of the back of a Ute while driving.

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO MOST ABOUT YOUR SHOW AT THE LAIR?
Getting a decent crowd down there to make a bit of noise. It's a premier venue in Sydney so it should be mega to get up there and have it.

WITH OTHER BATTLE OF THE BANDS COMPETITIONS AROUND, WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE EMERGENZA?
I guess because it's so massive. There aren't a lot of international band comps around that amateur bands can enter, so this seemed like a good opportunity, not only to play some shows, but to get a bit of exposure, which I think is tough for young bands these days.
