Before Sydney band Television Children take their electric Jack White-inspired-garage blues rock tunes to the stage at The Lair, they sit down to talk to us about what they’re all about at artists. Don’t miss your chance to see them this Wednesday, October 1st for round one of Emergenza Festival Australia. In the meantime, check out what the band had to say:
HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE NAME TELEVISION CHILDREN?
Our name comes from a lyric in “Unknown Soldier” by The Doors: "Television children fed. Unborn living, living, dead. Bullet strikes the helmet's head".
WHAT'S YOUR LIVE SET UP LIKE?
We have a basic love set up, two guitars, bass and drums, keyboard for some songs too.
IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE YOUR SOUND IN THREE WORDS, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?
Alternative blues rock.
WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR MAJOR MUSICAL INFLUENCES?
Jack White, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Nirvana, Radiohead.
WHAT'S THE CRAZIEST THING YOU'VE DONE TOGETHER AS A BAND?
Probably playing at The Great Northern in Byron and squeezing a week’s worth of partying into just over 24 hrs. Good times.
WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO MOST ABOUT YOUR SHOW AT THE LAIR?
None of us have played at The Lair before, so we're just looking forward to being on stage.
WITH OTHER BATTLE OF THE BANDS COMPETITIONS AROUND, WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE EMERGENZA?
Playing at The Lair was a big part of it, as well as the opportunity to play overseas.
