Getting To Know The Girls Of Lipstuck

All girl Melbourne band Lipstuck sits down to talk to us before they hit the stage at The Espy

Although this all girl band doesn’t mind flaunting their femininity by wearing outrageous shades of lipstick at their gigs, their hard rocking, grunge infused tunes make them serious rivals for the boys. Catch them on stage at The Espy this Friday, September 12th when they battle it out in round one of Emergenza Festival Australia. And while you’re waiting for them to go on, check out our pre-show interview with the girls of Lipstuck to find out more about them.

WHAT'S THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE NAME LIPSTUCK?
We wear lipstick to every gig and our songs get stuck in everyone's head.

WHO PLAYS WHAT IN THE BAND AND WHAT KEEPS YOU INSPIRED TO PLAY MUSIC TOGETHER?
Izzy is the lead singer, Paige plays bass and backing vocals, Megan plays guitar, Ashlan plays trumpet, Aliejana plays keyboard and Teagan is our drummer. Our passion for music is what keeps us together and kept us quite close as a band.

IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE YOUR SOUND IN THREE WORDS, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?
    Grunge, edgy and rock.

WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR MAJOR MUSICAL INFLUENCES?
Our music is mostly inspired by alternative rock artists including Arctic Monkeys, The Cure and Pink Floyd.

WHAT'S THE CRAZIEST THING YOU'VE DONE TOGETHER AS A BAND?
The craziest thing we have done as a band is take embarrassing photos in public.

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO MOST ABOUT YOUR SHOW AT THE ESPY?
We're looking forward to the great stage and crowd and we are really excited to rock out together

WITH OTHER BATTLE OF THE BANDS COMPETITIONS AROUND, WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE EMERGENZA?
It seems like a well publicized and positive event and we like to be involved in as many things as we can.
