Like pros, the guys in Sunday Heist don’t sweat about playing a prestigious venue like The Espy in Melbourne. They’re totally cool and confident on stage and already have an arsenal of killer songs with a growing fan base to sing along. Well, for the semi finals next Thursday, September 11th Sunday Heist is going to switch things up, showcasing some brand new material that’s been in the works since their round one gig. You won’t want to miss out. Check out our interview with the guys in the band to get a sneak peak of what’s in store.
FOR THOSE WHO DIDN’T GET TO SEE YOU IN THE FIRST ROUND, CAN YOU INTRODUCE US TO YOUR BAND SUNDAY HEIST?
We're a bunch of mates who love playing music together, it’s pretty much that simple.
WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND FOR YOU?
The intensity of the show as well as the crowd reaction was great. The atmosphere of the venue really helped us settle in and have a great time.
OUT OF ALL THE SONGS YOU PLAYED, WHICH ONE GOT THE BIGGEST REACTION OUT OF THE CROWD AND WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS?
Probably "Hollow" because it has a huge and catchy chorus. Either that or "Bite the Bullet", which is one of our older tracks and one that some of the regular audience members know quite well by now.
CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE FIRST ROUND AND WHAT YOU LEARNED FROM IT?
The first round was a blast, we had an amazing time playing in a professional venue while still having fun.
WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TO BETWEEN GIGS AND WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING TO PREPARE FOR THE NEXT PHASE OF THE COMPETITION?
Parties, school, parties, band practice and parties. We have been working on some new songs to play at the next round that will diversify our set and give something new to the people familiar with some of our tracks.
SO HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE EMERGENZA FINALS?
Definitely not terrible.
WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR UPCOMING CONCERT AT THE ESPY?
We hope to have a great time, check out some other killer bands and play a set to remember
