Sydney electronic artist Tripika is just getting psyched up for his debut live performance this Thursday, October 9th at The Lair as part of Emergenza Festival Australia. Hopefully his electro sound will set him apart from the rock acts on stage that night, but we think Tripika is mostly psyched to get the place bumping and experience a live gig for the first time. Read what he had to say to us before the show:

HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE NAME TRIPIKA?
Well, it’s a very long story, but basically my friends used to call me Pika, and I had a phase in my life where I was dropping a lot of acid, aka trips, so I put the two together, and yeah that’s how it happened.

WHAT'S YOUR LIVE SET UP LIKE?
Well this is my first gig, so I don’t have the greatest set up. I have a Launchpad mini and my laptop with some guitars and maybe a midi keyboard, hopefully this will be all I need.

IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE YOUR SOUND IN THREE WORDS, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?
Vibrant, Melodic, Electronic.

WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR MAJOR MUSICAL INFLUENCES?
Skrillex, Seven Lions, Deadmau5, Kill Paris.

WHAT WOULD YOUR DREAM GIG BE?
Never really thought about my dream gig before, but I guess any gig I can personally perform with any of my musical influences would be a dream come true.

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO MOST ABOUT YOUR SHOW AT THE LAIR?
Looking forward to experience my first live performance, which is very exciting!

WITH OTHER BATTLE OF THE BANDS COMPETITIONS AROUND, WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE EMERGENZA?
I never really looking to perform, I just got a message from someone on my Facebook page saying I should do a gig, and I thought, “yeah why not?”
