Quitting isn’t an option for this tough singer songwriter from Melbourne. A scissor-related injury to her hand and deep blisters on her fingers from long recording sessions in New York are just some of the obstacles Le Fay has had to face on the road to her performance at The Espy tomorrow night, July 31st. Well, as they say, whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, and Le Fay is definitely living proof of that! She’s bounced back and stronger than ever for her semi final gig tomorrow. Make sure to come down to see her, and while you’re waiting for her to go on, check out our catch up session with the artist here.
FOR THOSE WHO DIDN’T GET TO SEE YOU IN THE FIRST ROUND, CAN YOU INTRODUCE US TO YOUR BAND LE FAY?
Le Fay is the stage name of Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Jade Goodge, whether performing as a soloist, or in a band. Jade has recently spent a few weeks in New York, recording with production team Spotlight 87. Currently, Le Fay also consists of the gorgeous voices of Kahla Bramich and Liz Chong.
WHAT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FIRST ROUND FOR YOU?
The energy at the gig was amazing!
OUT OF ALL THE SONGS YOU PLAYED, WHICH ONE GOT THE BIGGEST REACTION OUT OF THE CROWD AND WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS?
“Bright Star”. It's a simple, sweet song, and it was also our final song.
CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE FIRST ROUND AND WHAT YOU LEARNED FROM IT?
Marketing is the hardest thing about performing live.
WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TO BETWEEN GIGS AND WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING TO PREPARE FOR THE NEXT PHASE OF THE COMPETITION?
Jade has been recording in New York. The new singles are going to have a lot more electronic instruments. She's also writing the rest of the album. As with the last gig's preparation, we've all been carb-loading. We were also making little promo cards, and Jade managed to cut through the webbing of her hand with a pair of craft scissors. She stitched up her hand on her kitchen bench so she could still rehearse that night. It was pretty rock-star. Except it probably also outlines that she's a bit of a spaz and can't manage a pair of simple craft scissors....
SO HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE EMERGENZA FINALS?
Like lots of fun!
WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR UPCOMING CONCERT AT THE ESPY?
A few more new fans, and some good memories!
