    Down Time with Colour Therapy

Sydney band Colour Therapy take time out before their show at The Lair next Sunday to hang out with Emergenza

This band is cryptic about exactly what kind of music they play but totally confident that they’ll be crowd pleasers Sunday night July 20th at The Lair when they hit the stage for round one of Emergenza Festival Australia. In this pre-show interview, Colour Therapy talks to us about what inspires them to write original tunes and what’s in store for the gig Sunday night.

WHAT INSPIRED THE NAME COLOUR THERAPY?
A teenybopper at a Pond gig suggested the name. We thought it was cool and went with it.

IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE YOUR SOUND IN THREE WORDS, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?
Ha, we have been stuck on his question for ten minutes now, sorry we can’t describe it in three words. But we promise you will like it!

WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR MAJOR INFLUENCERS?
    Arctic Monkeys & Foals.

    DESCRIBE YOUR SONGWRITING PROCESS.
One of us will bring forward an idea and then we jam it out. There’s no particular process, each song is written different. Generally our bass player is the brains of the band… musically of course, he will throw us a line and we go from there. Lyrics and vocal melodies almost always come last.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT PERFORMING LIVE?
The crowd, we feed off the crowd and incorporate crowd participation when we can. We try to make each gig a big night out.

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO MOST ABOUT YOUR SHOW AT THE LAIR?
We recently put out a new EP Black Widow, and we’re keen to push the release further at The Lair playing our new tracks.

WITH OTHER BATTLE OF THE BANDS COMPETITIONS AROUND, WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE EMERGENZA?
The Metro is legendary—the chance to play there is a great selling point! We had to jump at the opportunity.
