Sydney hip hop artist Mr. Sinister is getting psyched up for a very special performance. Not every artist gets to say their first gig was at such a prestigious venue as The Lair at The Metro Theatre, but this Sydney based rapper will have that honour when he takes the stage next Sunday, July 20th for round one of Emergenza Festival Australia. Check out what he had to say to us before the show.

HOW DOES THE NAME MR. SINISTER SUM YOU UP AS AN ARTIST?
With my music I portray positive messages and try to raise awareness about the injustice in the world, but from behind the guise of Mr. Sinister. I'm a paradox.

WHAT'S YOUR LIVE SET UP LIKE?
Beats, vocals and energy! Traditional hip hop!

IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE YOUR SOUND IN THREE WORDS, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?
Intricate, lyrical, prowess.

WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR MAJOR MUSICAL INFLUENCES?
Well, musically I have heavy metal roots so Children Of Bodom play a part in my make up but within the realms of hip hop I'd say my biggest influences are Tech N9ne, Eminem, Tonedeff and EbGb.

WHERE HAVE YOU PLAYED BEFORE AND WHAT GROUP WOULD YOU LOVE TO OPEN UP FOR?
I played in a couple bands when I was younger but as a hip hop artist this will be my on stage debut. If I could open for anyone it would be Tech N9ne!

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO MOST ABOUT YOUR SHOW AT THE LAIR?
I'm excited to blow out the cobwebs so to speak and to put on a memorable performance for everyone attending.

WITH OTHER BATTLE OF THE BANDS COMPETITIONS AROUND, WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE EMERGENZA?
I promised myself to take the next opportunity I get to perform, and as fate should have it a couple days later I was contacted by Emergenza.
