This band definitely represents the weirder side of punk. With songs on more profound themes such as parental love (“mumskissindad”), youthful fornication (“drunkunderagegirlsareeasy”), craving a tasty beverage (“ofcourseiwanteabeer”), and the less desirable aspects of life (“thingsthatareshit”), they set themselves apart as standards for meaningful song writing—emphasized by their sophisticated aversion to using capital letters or spaces in the titles of their songs. But jokes aside, there’s one thing for sure when it comes to The Spoof Maggots: their songs are catchy as all hell. The crude subject matter is hilarious. And the instrumentals, no matter how gritty they are, provide for some solid punk one-two’s.
